When Her Death Couldn't Break Him (Cecilia and Nathaniel) novel Chapter 2264

Cecilia gave a small nod. "Mm."

She sat back down in her chair.

Not long after, Lucille came hurrying in. Her face was bright with delight, but there was a trace of confusion mixed in too.

"Ceci, do you know what happened? The second those old fossils heard Mr. Rainsworth was the one who made the final call, not one of them dared question it. They nodded faster than anybody."

Lucille couldn't help looking at Nathaniel a little differently.

In business, he really did seem like that kind of rare genius.

Just putting his name on it was enough.

Even those old men could be moved with that.

"I knew it," Cecilia said with a sigh. She looked at Nathaniel. "If I'd known, I would've just said from the start that you approved the project. They definitely wouldn't have dared say a word."

Cecilia looked at him and couldn't help measuring the distance again.

When would her own name carry that kind of weight—where people trusted it the moment they saw it?

She let out a long breath.

Just then, her phone started ringing.

Cecilia picked up her phone and looked at the screen.

Her eyes shifted.

The call was from Magnus.

She had no idea why he was suddenly calling her.

"Hello."

Cecilia hesitated for a moment, then answered the call.

"Cecilia, are you busy right now?" Magnus asked.

"I'm at work right now. What is it?" Cecilia said.

"Nothing much. Didn't I start the fruit company recently? I had some seasonal fruit sent over for you to try. Don't worry. What I sent you is the best stuff, absolutely clean and safe."

The second she heard that, Cecilia turned him down.

"No need. I can buy fruit anytime. You don't have to specially send any to me."

After everything that had happened, Cecilia always assumed Magnus had some other reason behind whatever he did.

Because of that, she still didn't dare accept anything from him.

Chapter 2264 The Call 2

Lucille snapped a photograph and sent it to Cecilia.

"Ceci, look at all this fruit. Do you want all of it moved upstairs?"

Chapter 2264 The Call 3

Even Cecilia was caught off guard when she saw the photograph.

She typed back, "No need. Hand it out to everyone at the company. Just leave one box for me."

Now that everything had already been delivered, Cecilia obviously couldn't have people send it all back.

Besides, there was just too much of it. Sending it away again would have been a hassle.

Lucille followed Cecilia's instructions. She found a few people and started distributing the fruit through the various departments.

Magnus really had been generous this time. The fruit he sent was all high quality, and the condition was excellent too.

Cecilia kept a crate of lychees for herself. They were fresh, and they tasted good.

Still, even as Cecilia ate, that box of lychees sat a little too heavily on her mind.

People didn't hand over that much for no reason. What exactly was Magnus after, sending her so much the fruit all at once?

She picked up her phone and called Mr. Sven, the man she'd kept on Magnus this whole time.
