Robert understood exactly what he meant, and he nodded.
"Don't worry. I still know where the line is."
Elena and Cecilia watched from the side.
The corner of Elena's mouth lifted. "I thought there was going to be a real show. Turns out that's it. Let's go."
Cecilia nodded.
Right then, a few more familiar faces came in from outside.
Cecilia looked over and recognized them at once. They were Miranda's kin.
"Mom, the Leightons are here," she said.
Elena stopped where she was.
"Then let's wait and watch a little longer."
"Okay." Cecilia naturally went along with Elena.
The two of them didn't leave. They stayed where they were and watched the Leightons storm in from outside, each face dark and tight.
The second Robert saw them, his expression turned hard.
"What are you doing here?"
At the front was Derek, Miranda's father.
"What else would we be here for? We're here to take my daughter home."
Derek saw the injuries on Miranda and clenched his fists.
"You Rainsworths actually laid such a brutal hand on my daughter!"
Not far away, Cecilia watched the whole thing unfold.
She still remembered what happened when Elliot and Felix got into that fight.
Back then, the Leightons had been exactly the same. They hadn't cared who was right or wrong. They'd rushed over and blamed Elliot the moment they arrived.
And now it was happening again.
The Leightons didn't care what their daughter had done.
They only knew how to shield their own.
Robert let out a cold laugh.
"Your daughter did something that shameless. In the old days, she'd have been stoned for it. What I did to her was already going easy."
Even Robert hadn't expected the Leightons to come in here and accuse him first.
Derek didn't waste another word on him. He turned and looked at the man in a suit behind him.

"The Leightons can give up Felix. Isn't that enough?" Derek said it like he was handing over some enormous favor.
Miranda hurried to speak. "No. Felix is my son. He has to stay with me."
"What kind of joke is that? Felix is my son too!" Adrian cut in.
Just like that, the two families were at each other's throats again, firing one sharp line after another.
Elena pulled Cecilia down into a seat, handed her some sunflower seeds, and settled in to watch the show.
Neither family played nice, and neither side was willing to come out of this losing.
In that whole ugly show, Wren was the only one who actually looked worried.
Everyone else was there for one thing only—their own interests.
The fighting dragged on until late that night.
Only then did the Leighton family truly give in.
They agreed to make up the Rainsworth family's losses and hand over a piece of land as compensation.
A single piece of land wasn't even close to covering what Miranda had stolen from the company, or the money she'd taken.
But Robert had no way to push further.
He had no proof that Miranda had taken those things, so all he could do was swallow it.
