Chapter One Hundred And Seventy–Nine: I’ll Do This My Way.
The moment the door closed softly behind Cassienne. For a brief second she stood there, frozen, staring at the white wall in front of her as if her mind could not process what had just happened.
Then the world collapsed. And her legs gave way. The strength drained out of her body so suddenly that she almost hit the floor, but two arms caught her before she could fall.
“Cassienne!” Abigail screamed.
She pulled her into a tight hold, supporting her weight as Cassienne’s body trembled violently.
Cassienne clutched the front of Abigail’s blouse like a drowning person grasping for air. Then the sobs came. Not the silent crying she had been holding in all day. These were deep, broken sobs that shook her entire body.
Her knees finally gave out completely, and Abigail lowered with her to the floor of the hallway.
“Cassienne, my dear… breathe… breathe…”
But Cassienne couldn’t. Her chest heaved violently. Her hands shook as she gripped Abigail’s arms.
“He… he asked if I cheated…” Her voice cracked so badly the words barely came out.
Abigail’s heart broke instantly.
“Oh my poor child…”
Cassienne’s tears kept falling uncontrollably. “After everything… after everything we went through…”
Her voice trembled as if every word cost her strength.
“He… he finally found out the truth… he finally realized I was the girl from our childhood… he finally loved me…” Her breathing became uneven again.
“And he promised me… he promised me he would never hurt me again…” Her hands pressed against her face as she cried harder.
“But now look at this!” Her voice rose in frustration and heartbreak. “Why?”
She looked up at Abigail, her eyes swollen and red. “Why is God punishing me like this?”
Abigail tried to hold her tighter, but Cassienne pulled slightly away.
Her voice broke again. “Why is it that the same woman who stole everything from me… the same woman who lied and destroyed our lives…” Her jaw tightened.
“…is now the one sitting beside him?”
The bitterness in her voice made Abigail close her eyes briefly.
Cassienne’s expression had changed. Something fierce burned in her eyes now. “I watched her hold his

hand.”
Her voice became sharper. “I watched her act like she belongs there.”
Her fingers curled into fists.
“And he told me to leave.”
Abigail tried to calm her.
“Cassienne, please-”
But Cassienne shook her head violently.
“No.” Her voice was different now. It sounds colder and stronger. “I stayed quiet for years.”
Abigail froze.
Cassienne slowly stood up, though her legs still trembled. But her eyes were filled with something new
now. It was filled with determination.
“I stayed quiet when Tina stole from me.”
Her breathing steadied slightly.
“I stayed quiet when she lied and pretended to be the girl he loved.”
Her voice grew firmer.
“I stayed quiet when Dreston treated me like I was nothing during our marriage.”
Abigail looked worried now.
“My dear…”
But Cassienne continued.
“And when he finally learned the truth… when he finally loved me…”
Her lips trembled slightly.
“…this happens.”
Her hands slowly moved to her stomach. Abigail noticed the gesture immediately.
Cassienne lowered her voice.
“I’m carrying his child.” A tear slipped down her cheek again. “And he thinks I cheated on him.”
The pain in that sentence filled the entire corridor. Abigail stepped closer, placing her hands gently on
Cassienne’s shoulders.
“Cassienne, listen to me carefully.” Her voice was calm but firm. “You cannot force his memory to return.

Cassienne looked at her.
Her eyes were burning now.
“I’m not forcing anything.”
Abigail shook her head slowly.
“The doctor warned us.” Her voice lowered. “Stress could damage his recovery. His brain needs time.”
Cassienne listened quietly. But the stubborn determination in her eyes didn’t fade.
“If you push him too hard, it could make things worse.”
Cassienne looked down for a moment. Then she spoke quietly. “I won’t push him.”
Abigail frowned slightly.
“What do you mean?”
Cassienne lifted her head again. Her expression had changed completely. She looked too calm now.
“I will make him remember.”
Abigail’s heart skipped.
“How?”
Cassienne didn’t answer immediately.
Instead she wiped the remaining tears from her face.
“I know him.”
Her voice was steady now.
“I know his heart.”
She looked toward the hospital room door at the end of the corridor.
“And his heart knows me.”
Abigail shook her head gently.
“You’re risking hurting him.”
Cassienne turned back to her.
“And what about me?”
The question hung painfully between them.
Cassienne’s voice trembled slightly again. “I’ve been hurt enough.” Her hands slowly clenched again.
