Cassienne kissed him deeply, without holding anything back. At that moment, she didn’t care whether he remembered everything or not. All she wanted was him. The man she loved. The man she had almost

lost.

Dreston also didn’t back down. His arms tightened around her, pulling her closer as if there was still space left between them. But there wasn’t.

Cassienne shifted slightly and settled more comfortably against him, her body pressed to his as the kiss deepened. There was a familiarity in the way he held her, in the way his hands moved carefully but confidently, like he had done this many times before. Even if he couldn’t remember it.

Dreston kissed her with urgency, like he didn’t want to stop, like he needed this more than he understood. Cassienne’s fingers moved gently into his hair, careful not to apply too much pressure

because she still remembered his condition.

She was mindful. Even at this moment. But the closeness between them was overwhelming. The warmth. The connection. The way their bodies responded to each other without hesitation.

Cassienne felt it. And she knew he did too.

That was what made it harder. She wanted him just as much. She had missed him. Missed everything about him. 1

But she also knew this wasn’t the right time. So slowly, and reluctantly, she pulled away.

Dreston’s eyes darkened immediately. The sudden distance frustrated him more than he expected.

Why?he asked, his voice low, strained.

Cassienne smiled softly, even though her own breathing was still uneven. Her hands moved to his face, holding him gently.

I’m sorry,she whispered. We can’tnot yet.

She leaned closer and spoke softly near his ear.

You need to recover fully.

Dreston closed his eyes and took a slow breath, trying to steady himself. It took him a moment, but he eventually nodded.

I understand,” he said.

A quiet chuckle escaped him, and that small sound did something to her.

Cassienne saw it then, that the man she knew. The one who loved her.

Her heart tightened. For a second, she almost gave in again. But she didn’t. She couldn’t.

Now was not the time to lose control. She had to think about his health. About his recovery. About everything that still needed to be fixed.

She moved off him and stood up.

That was when she felt something. A slight dizziness.

It came suddenly, and she paused, her hand instinctively reaching out for support.

Dreston noticed immediately. He stood up at once, looking concerned, replacing everything else in his expression.

Are you okay?he asked, stepping closer.

I don’t know,she replied honestly. I just feel a little dizzy.

Should I call the doctor?” he asked quickly, his hands resting gently on her waist as if to steady her.

Cassienne shook her head and let out a small, reassuring laugh. No. I’ll be fine. I think I just need some

rest.

Dreston didn’t look fully convinced, but after watching her for a moment, he nodded. Okay,he said softly. Come, let me take you to bed.

Cassienne didn’t argue. She picked up her bag and phone and followed him quietly.

Inside the bedroom, everything felt calm again. Dreston helped her sit on the bed before gently pulling the covers over her. His movements were careful, almost protective.

Then he leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to her forehead. Sleep,” he said. Get some rest.

Cassienne turned slightly to look at him. “You should rest too,she replied. You need it more than I do.

He gave a small nod. “YesI will. There was a brief pause before he added, with a hint of awkward honesty, I just need totake care of something first.

His gaze dropped briefly to his pants, and Cassienne followed it. She saw and understood immediately.

A soft smile touched her lips.

I’m sorry,” she said gently.

Dreston let out a quiet chuckle. Then he stepped away and walked into the bathroom. And the door closed behind him.

The moment he was alone, he exhaled deeply and ran a hand through his hair.

This is going to be very difficult,he muttered to himself.

Outside, Cassienne lay quietly on the bed. Her hand slowly moved to her abdomen. Her eyes closed.

And despite everything, she smiled. A relieved kind of smile.

By the time Dreston stepped out of the bathroom, the room had grown quiet. Cassienne was already asleep. He stopped beside the bed and looked at her without saying a word.

Her body was relaxed, her breathing slow and even. A few strands of her hair had fallen across her face, and his eyes followed the gentle rise and fall of her chest. There was something about the way she looked that made him pause.

A small smile formed on his lips before he realised it.

He didn’t understand why he was smiling, but it felt natural, like something he had done many times

before.

He stepped closer and adjusted the covers over her carefully, making sure she was comfortable. His movements were slow but precise, as if he didn’t want to disturb her rest.

After that, he moved to the other side of the bed and lay down. However, he did not sleep immediately. His eyes remained on her.

He watched her quietly, taking in the calmness of her face. He noticed the softness of her features, the stillness of her lashes, and the peaceful expression she wore in her sleep. These were details he could not remember ever paying attention to before, yet now they held his focus completely.

After a while, he reached out his hand without thinking. His fingers touched her face gently, tracing the curve of her cheek before moving slightly to her lips. The contact was light, almost hesitant, as if he was afraid to disturb her.

The moment he touched her, his heart reacted. It beat faster, and the feeling that followed was something he could not explain.

He started seeing things he had no memory of. Him and Cassienne in this same bed, doing all kinds of things he couldn’t believe he had actually done.

The images were clearer now. It felt like he was watching a movie. All of it made his condition worse. The hardness became too much, he couldn’t control it anymore.

He withdrew his hand slowly and looked at her with a slight frown.

He could feel it again, the same reaction he had noticed earlier. It was strong and impossible to ignore.

He shifted slightly on the bed and looked away for a moment, trying to steady his thoughts.

He couldn’t remember those moments with Cassienne, but he knew they had happened because his body still responded to them as if they were real.

Why don’t I feel this way when I’m with Tina?he asked quietly to himself.

There was no answer. But the question lingered in his mind.
