When Love Finds Its Way Back (Cassienne and Dreston) novel Chapter 390

The moment he stepped outside, Daisy rushed toward him. “What is happening?”

“Cassienne is in active labour.”

Jessica moved closer. “How far?”

“Far enough that she cannot leave.”

Mrs. Rawlings looked toward the closed doors. “Is the baby alright?”

“The baby is fine.”

Aurora released a relieved breath.

Daisy looked at Ray. “Where are you going?”

“To Dreston.”

“What happened?”

“He is awake, confused, and asking for Cassienne.”

Jessica smiled. “That sounds like him.”

Ray shook his head and hurried away. Leaving the rest of them.

Jessica watched him go. “This day is becoming strange.”

Daisy looked toward the delivery room.

“Dreston wakes up. Cassienne goes into labour. Abigail is probably crying in intensive care.”

Mrs. Rawlings clasped her hands. “It is a good day.”

Everyone looked at her.

She wiped her eyes. “It is frightening, but it is good.”

Aurora smiled softly. “Yes. I agree with you.”

Mrs. Rawlings looked toward the delivery room doors. “Mr. Tremont is alive.” Then she looked in the direction Ray had gone. “And their baby is coming.”

Jessica sat down slowly. “Finally, everything happening is not bad.”

Daisy nodded. “We only need both of them to behave.”

Jessica looked at her. “Cassienne and Dreston?”

“Yes.”

Jessica laughed. “That may be too much to ask.”

Inside the intensive care unit, Dreston Tremont had already decided he was done listening to anyone.

He had been awake for less than thirty minutes. His throat was dry. His body felt heavy. A deep pain spread through his side whenever he tried to move.

Machines surrounded him, and the light above him was too bright. He did not understand how long he had been unconscious. And he also didn't know why his father was not there.

He did not know why Cassienne was not beside him. All he knew was that he wanted his wife.

Abigail stood near the bed with tears running down her face. She had held his hand the moment she entered.

Dreston had looked at her slowly, his eyes still weak and unfocused. “Mom?”

That one word really broke her. She cried so hard that the doctor had to ask her to calm down. Now she stood beside him, trying to smile.

“Please calm down.”

Dreston swallowed painfully. “Cassienne.”

“She is safe.” Abigail assured him.

“Where?”

“She is close by.”

He tried to turn his head toward the door. “Bring her here, I want to see her.”

Abigail placed a hand gently on his shoulder.

“You need to rest.”

His eyes returned to her. “I want to see my wife now.”

The doctor stepped closer. “Mr. Tremont, you have just regained consciousness after surgery. You need to remain calm.”

Dreston looked at him. “And my wife.”

The doctor sighed. “She is being cared for.”

“What happened to her? Is the baby safe?”

“Trust us. Your wife and the baby are doing great.

Dreston’s eyes sharpened slightly. “Then bring her to me. I need to see her.”

Abigail looked toward the doctor. He looked back at her as if asking her to handle her son.

She almost laughed.

Dreston had always been difficult when he wanted something. Seeing that stubbornness again filled her with relief.

She touched his face gently. “Cassienne wanted to come.”

“Then why isn’t she here?”

Abigail hesitated.

Dreston noticed. “What happened?”

Then Dreston broke the silence, “Take me to Cassienne.”

Ray walked closer. “Good to see you awake too.”

“Ray.”

“You were unconscious for days.”

“I gathered that.”

“Then you should know that it is risky to move you out of this room now. You had major surgery.”

Dreston’s eyes narrowed. “Take me to my wife.”

Ray looked at Abigail. She gave him a helpless expression. “He has been saying the same thing.”

Ray turned back to Dreston..“Cassienne is in active labour.”

“I know.”

“You can't threaten me with that face, Dreston, you can barely keep your eyes open.”

“I am awake enough to fire you.”

“Unfortunately, I don't work for you.”

“I can buy the hospital.”

Abigail closed her eyes.

Ray stared at him. “You have been awake for how long ? Ten minutes? And you want to tear the hospital down.”

“It's been over thirty minutes now, and you are already wasting my time.”

The doctor turned away to hide a smile.

Ray leaned closer. “Your wife told me to tell you that she loves you.”

Dreston’s expression changed immediately. The tension in his face softened. “She said that?”

Dreston looked toward the tubes connected to him.

Ray noticed. “Don’t even think about it, Dreston. If you touch those lines, I will personally restrain you.”

…….

After so much talking. Ray was able to put Dreston in line.

He walked quickly toward the delivery room.

He had two stubborn patients in the same hospital. One had just woken from a coma. And the other was in labour.

And both believed the rules should change simply because they wanted to see each other.
