When Heather woke up the next morning, the spot beside her was empty. She stretched lazily, having already forgotten all about her dream.

After freshening up, she went downstairs and saw Kason, fully dressed, sitting at the dining table, enjoying his breakfast.

She took the initiative to greet him. Morning.”

Greta smiled at her in response. Good morning.

Heather nodded, pulled out the chair across from Kason, and sat down. She had just taken a sip of her hot milk when he spoke up.

Did you have a dream last night?he asked.

Me?Heather blinked, a little confused.

Kason set down his coffee, fixing his gaze on her. Yeah,” he said.

Heather racked her brain for a moment, and then it suddenly came back to her. She really did have a dream last night.

But she couldn’t remember the details at all.

How did you know I was dreaming?she asked.

Kason smiled, his eyes never leaving her.

You called out a guy’s name. Oliver?he said.

Heather froze, totally caught off guard. I was talking in my sleep?

Yeah,Kason replied.

I don’t really dream much,” Heather said.

So whoever pops up in your dreams must mean a lot to you,Kason said.

Heather instinctively tightened her grip on her cup, but aside from a flash of surprise, she managed to keep her expression neutral.

She forced herself to act normal, even though she was trying hard not to let it show.

Honestly, I don’t remember much. I hardly ever dream, and I almost never talk in my sleep,Heather said.

She looked over at Kason and shot back, Is that something I’ve ever done before?

No,Kason said, giving her a long look. Not seeing anything off, he picked up his coffee and took another sip.

But Heather couldn’t let her guard down. Kason was just too sharp, too perceptive. Even hearing Oliver’s name slip from his lips made her heart skip a beat.

She honestly had no idea why she was reacting like this.

Why am I even nervous?she thought.

It was all in the past anyway. There was nothing for her to feel guilty about.

As she thought about it, Heather’s expression became even more relaxed.

Honestly, if we’re talking about the past, his story is probably way more colorful than mine, Heather thought to herself.

You even called out my name at the end. So, what did you dream about me?Kason asked.

Heather blinked. Do you ever remember your dreams after you wake up?

You don’t remember?Kason asked.

Heather shook her head. Nope.”

Greta chimed in, Same here. I never remember my dreams when I wake up, but some people can remember every dream. Kason’s one of those.

Heather blinked, then said, That must be tiring, having your brain running all night. I hardly ever dream, and even if I do, I probably don’t even realize it.

But Kason suddenly asked, So, who exactly was the guy in your dream?

Greta gave Heather a quick glance, then turned and went into the kitchen.

Heather took a sip of her milk, then said, I think you’re talking about Oliver.

Kason lifted an eyebrow. Of course,he thought to himself.

He was my classmate back in high school and college. But after he moved overseas, we haven’t talked in ages. It must be seven or eight years now. No clue why he popped up in my dream. I honestly don’t remember a thing about it,Heather said.

She played it off so naturally, like Oliver was just some random classmate.

Kason watched her for a moment before looking away. Eat up.

Heather frowned, noticing he’d almost finished his breakfast before she said, If you were in a hurry, why didn’t you wake me?she asked,

Kason raised an eyebrow and said, Weren’t you the one whining about being tired last night?

Heather shot him a glare. Oh, shut up.”

Chapter 321

Kason just chuckled and didn’t say anything more.

Heather kept an eye on Kason’s face as she drank her milk, making sure he wasn’t onto her before finally letting out a breath she’d been holding.

She couldn’t even figure out why she was acting this way herself.

Honestly, it was almost laughable.

I’ve only got one ex, and it’s not like anyone even knows he existed,Heather thought to herself.

Kason, on the other hand, could probably load up a truck with all his exes, she mused.

Just as Heather was wondering whether to come clean about having dated Oliver, Kason picked up his phone to answer a call.

She bit back the words that were on the tip of her tongue.

Yeah? Got it, okay,Kason said on the phone.

After hanging up, he saw that Heather had finished her breakfast too. Let’s go,” he said.

Okay,” Heather replied.

Heather watched his broadshouldered figure disappear down the hall and dropped the subject, figuring it wasn’t worth bringing up again.

Everyone has her past,’ she thought.
