When She Rose From the Ashes (Natalie and Jensen) novel Chapter 540

**Chapter 540: The Benefactor**

With a deep breath, Baron resolved to share the entire saga that had unfolded.

“First and foremost, this neighborhood is densely populated, teeming with life. If anyone were to act recklessly here, they would have to weigh the consequences of inciting widespread panic. Secondly, it’s conveniently located near the suburbs where the air is crisp and the environment serene—ideal for a child’s recovery. Lastly, we are fortunate that the specialist resides right here in this very community. Should any issues arise with the child, Beth can easily reach out to the specialist for immediate care,” he explained with a calm assurance.

As Natalie absorbed Baron’s meticulous planning, a wave of admiration washed over her. They had both arrived in Ocean City around the same time, yet the crises plaguing the Stone family seemed to have multiplied in rapid succession. Baron had been a steadfast presence through it all, navigating each challenge with remarkable grace. It left her wondering—did he ever take a moment to rest?

A knot of worry tightened in Natalie’s chest.

The more she pondered, the deeper her concern for Baron grew.

“Why didn’t you share any of this with me?” she asked, her voice trembling slightly as she looked into his eyes, which were filled with warmth and understanding. The hint of red in her own eyes betrayed the emotion she struggled to contain.

Since their marriage, Baron had undeniably stepped into the role of the Stone family’s devoted son-in-law. He was involved in every single matter concerning the family; his commitment was reminiscent of a workhorse tirelessly toiling away.

For Baron, the most cherished reward was Natalie’s concern and attention.

Noticing the glimmer of moisture in her eyes, he quickly interjected, “I’m perfectly fine. It was merely a matter of making a few calls and having conversations. I’m not fatigued in the slightest.”

Beth, observing their affectionate exchange, felt a sharp pang of envy twist inside her.

“Ms. Stone and Mr. Baron truly share a remarkable bond,” she remarked, her voice laced with a hint of longing.

Nataly’s cheeks flushed a deeper shade of crimson.

“Not at all! It’s Baron who makes all the accommodations. I feel like I haven’t done anything meaningful for him,” she replied, her voice trailing off as she reflected on her own actions.

In her past with Jensen, she had yearned to give him everything she had. Yet, with Baron—who poured his heart into loving her—she found herself taking his kindness for granted.

With a heavy heart, Natalie turned her gaze toward Baron, a silent apology lingering in her expression.

Baron, sensing her inner turmoil, gently grasped her hand, enveloping it in his warm, dry palm.

Had it not been for Natalie and Baron’s timely intervention, Beth feared she might never have seen her son alive again.

Initially, she had suspected James had ties to the nefarious mastermind behind the cruise ship, but it wasn’t until Mateo’s men raided the vessel that the horrifying truth emerged—James was the owner!

How naive she had been!

She had severed ties with her family for this man, risked her life to bring their son into the world, and even remained on the ship, believing she was doing it for her child’s sake. Yet, James had taken her love and devotion for granted, treating their son like a mere pawn in his cruel game.

He was worse than an animal!

Beth had once contemplated shielding James from the truth, but now, with Natalie and Baron by her side, she felt no inclination to protect him any longer.

“James was my boyfriend once. I turned my back on my family for him and bore his child. He promised a life of comfort and happiness, but instead, he left me waiting in despair. When he finally contacted me, it was to lure me into a trap. He said he wanted to take my son out for a meal, only to snatch him away from me entirely. Then, he forced me to work on that cursed cruise ship. I thought he was merely greedy, selling me out to cover my son’s medical expenses—but how could I have known he was the owner? He’s the monster who has made my life a living hell all these years, deliberately withholding treatment for my son’s illness!”

Her voice trembled with anger and pain as the truth spilled forth, raw and unfiltered.
