**Chapter 539 The Surprise Visit**

Natalie’s lips curled into a confident smile as she nodded, exuding determination.

“+10 Free Coins”

“It’s just a few flights of stairs! I can handle it! Don’t tell me you think I’m some spoiled princess who can’t do anything for herself,” she declared, her voice infused with a playful defiance.

With that, she boldly took the lead, her footsteps echoing against the walls as she ascended the staircase with a sense of purpose.

Baron followed closely behind, a chuckle escaping his lips, amused by her spirited declaration.

In no time, they reached the fourth floor, and Natalie halted, pointing toward the East door that stood before them, her brow furrowed in confusion.

“What’s behind that door?” she wondered aloud, her gaze shifting to Baron, seeking clarity.

Baron, undeterred, approached the door with confidence and knocked firmly, the sound reverberating in the hallway.

A familiar voice floated through the door, bright and welcoming. “Coming!”

Nataly felt a jolt of surprise, her body momentarily freezing as her heart raced. Could it be the person she had in mind?

She turned to Baron, her eyes wide with anticipation.

Noticing her startled expression, Baron reached out playfully, pinching her cheek. “Hmm, not much to grab onto, but the texture is surprisingly nice,” he mused silently, a teasing smile creeping onto his face. “What’s wrong?” he asked, feigning innocence.

Natalie’s cheeks flushed with a mix of embarrassment and annoyance at his playful gesture. She shot him a glare, ready to retort, but before she could articulate her thoughts, the door swung open.

“Ms. Stone? Mr. Gunn? What brings you here?” Beth exclaimed, her surprise evident as she took in their unexpected visit.

Natalie had suspected it was Beth upon hearing the voice, but the reality of seeing her was still a pleasant shock.

Beth had transformed since their last encounter; gone were the revealing clothes she had worn in the ship’s cabin. She now donned a simple T-shirt and jeans, her hair casually pinned up, exuding a relaxed charm. Though a hint of fatigue lingered in her eyes, she radiated a warmth that put Natalie at ease.

“How is your son doing?” Natalie asked, a twinge of guilt threading through her words.

Before Baron could respond, Beth chimed in, her voice filled with gratitude. “Honestly, my son’s current health is all thanks to you.”

Natalie felt a wave of warmth wash over her, accompanied by a hint of guilt. “It’s nothing, really. I made a promise, and when a child’s life is at stake, it’s only natural to help however we can,” she replied, her voice steady but her heart heavy with the burden of her earlier neglect.

Beth, however, shook her head, her expression sincere. “Ms. Stone, meeting you has been a blessing for both me and my son. When we first arrived in Ocean City, the Witch Doctor came to examine him but had to leave for an urgent matter. I feared my son was beyond help, but then Mr. Gunn stepped in and ensured we received the care we needed.”

Her words were laced with deep emotion, and Natalie felt a lump form in her throat.

The Witch Doctor hadn’t operated on Beth’s son?

She instinctively glanced at Baron, her mind racing with questions.

Baron nodded, confirming her unspoken thoughts. “He had pressing matters to attend to, and I couldn’t persuade him to stay. So, I arranged for the hospital to provide temporary care. Later, the Witch Doctor referred Beth to a specialist who could handle the surgery. At that time, her son’s condition was critical, and surgery was the only option. Thankfully, the specialist was more than capable, and the operation was a success. I was just concerned for their safety, so I made sure to rent an apartment in this area for them to recover in peace.”

The warmth of the room enveloped them as they shared this moment, the air thick with gratitude and relief.
