When She Rose From the Ashes (Natalie and Jensen) novel Chapter 595

**Chapter 595: The Inside Man**

“So, you’re telling me that Moses is in a dire situation right now?”

Waylon, the seasoned strategist of the group, his eyes narrowing with concern, quickly seized upon Jonas’s words. “Do you have any way for us to see Moses?”

Jonas took a moment, his brow furrowing in thought, before finally nodding in agreement.

“I can arrange for you to see Moses. But you’ll need to find a way to rouse him from his slumber, country.”

The moment those words left his lips, an electric thrill surged through the group. Each of them felt a powerful urge to visit Moses, to see him, to be near him in this critical moment.

Natalie, who had never laid eyes on her elder brother, felt a tumult of emotions churn within her. The knowledge that he had fallen into this state because of her actions weighed heavily on her heart. “I want to go too. I need to tell him myself that I’m okay now, that I’m finally alright.”

“Alright then, let’s go together,” Ruby said, her voice steady despite the turmoil within. She too had never met her oldest son, and the news of his coma struck her like a physical blow. She felt her knees weaken but forced herself to remain upright, steeling her resolve.

Just then, the phone at home rang, slicing through the tense atmosphere like a knife.

Everyone turned their gaze to the phone, uncertainty flickering in their eyes. Should they answer? What news might it bring?

Noticing their hesitation, Waylon stepped forward, decisively picking up the receiver and switching it to speakerphone.

“Payne’s voice crackled through the line, filled with urgency. “Rachel has confessed. She revealed that the mastermind behind all of this is Hayes, the head of the Gunn family. This case is enormous, and I’m going to need time to investigate and gather evidence. I won’t be able to keep an eye on you all, so please, be careful. The Gunn family isn’t ordinary; I’m genuinely worried he might resort to desperate measures.”

Waylon had already suspected Hayes, but hearing Payne confirm it felt like a lead weight settling in his stomach.

“Understood, Brian. You take care of yourself too.”

At that moment, Baron, his expression shifting to one of intensity, snatched the phone from Waylon’s grasp. “Brian, while I was digging earlier, I stumbled upon something that I think involves you. Do you have a SIM card registered under the number XXXX?”

Natalie’s ears perked up at this mention. She recalled the whispers of suspicion she had harbored about Payne being the mastermind behind James and Rachel’s schemes.

Payne’s reaction was immediate and startled. “I don’t have that card!”

Baron pressed on, undeterred. “Then did you ever lend your ID to someone else to register a SIM card?”

Feeling the weight of this revelation, Payne spoke in a low, grave tone. “I will investigate this thoroughly. Don’t worry. If it truly is him, we will show no mercy! And… thank you for trusting me.”

He knew that if Baron had reported this matter, even if Payne was innocent, he would have been subjected to a rigorous investigation that could jeopardize his current work.

Uncertainty loomed over him like a dark cloud. He had no way of knowing if there were other moles lurking within their ranks, but he felt a flicker of hope knowing that the case remained in his hands for now.

Waylon had been unaware of the intricacies of this situation, but the look on Natalie’s face told him she was well-informed.

He couldn’t help but admire the composure of both Baron and Natalie, and his respect for Payne grew even deeper.

“Brian, we’re placing our trust in you. You must investigate this thoroughly and provide the Stone family with the answers we deserve. Because of this mess, our eldest son lies in a coma, and our daughter has been separated from us for over twenty long years. If we don’t uncover the truth, it will shatter the spirit of the Stone family.”

Waylon’s plea was not a threat; it was a heartfelt declaration of their plight.

Payne understood the weight of the Stone family’s sacrifices all too well.

“Don’t worry,” he replied quickly, determination hardening his voice. “Even if it means sacrificing everything, I will uncover the truth and deliver the explanation you deserve.”
