**Chapter 600: Case Closed**
Baron meticulously spread sunscreen across Natalie’s calves, his fingers gliding over her skin with a careful touch.
Natalie erupted into a fit of laughter, her joy infectious and bright. “Baron, can you believe it? Hayes hasn’t even faced his sentence yet, and the Gunn family is already in utter disarray. You just whisked me away like this! Don’t you think they’re going to unleash their fury on me?”
“Let them rant and rave all they want,” Baron replied with a dismissive wave of his hand. “Do they even remember me? When Hayes and his family cast my mother and me out, leaving us with nowhere to turn, not a single one of them cared whether I, the rightful heir of the Gunn family, was left to fend for myself on the streets. Their sudden interest now? It’s purely self-serving. I’m the chairman of Grant International Holdings and the son-in-law of the Stone family. A mere gesture from either of those powerful families would be enough to restore the Gunn family’s stability. To put it bluntly, those crafty old foxes are only concerned about their own skins. The Gunn family is rotten to its very core; there’s no point in trying to salvage it.”
As Baron spoke, he finished applying the sunscreen, but his expression shifted, a storm brewing behind his eyes.
Natalie, ever perceptive, sensed the change and quickly pushed him away, a playful grin on her face. “Come on now, don’t get carried away! The kids are right there!”
Baron glanced at the two little figures playing in the distance, frustration etched on his features. “We shouldn’t have brought them along,” he muttered, his tone laced with exasperation.
But Natalie’s spirit remained undampened. “Oh, I think it’s wonderful that we’re all together as a family! In the future, as long as we’re free, let’s make it a tradition to take the kids on trips every year, alright?”
Baron chuckled, seizing the opportunity to pull her into a warm embrace. “You’re the boss of this family. Whatever you say goes.”
In that moment, he reveled in the simple pleasure of holding her close. If he couldn’t indulge in his desires, he could at least steal some hugs and kisses, right?
Natalie didn’t resist; she found herself increasingly accustomed to Baron’s spontaneous affection.
As she watched Sean and Susie frolicking in the sun, she couldn’t help but voice her thoughts. “Shouldn’t we start planning to head back in just a couple of days?”
“Why would we do that?” Baron replied, a hint of stubbornness in his voice. He had no desire to return to Ocean City just yet. Layne and Jonas were managing the company, and his father-in-law didn’t require his assistance. The thought of traveling the world with his wife and children felt perfect—free from the mundane troubles that plagued their everyday lives.
Natalie shot him a knowing look, her brow raised. “Have you forgotten? My studio’s launch event is just around the corner! Plus, my parents sent out invitations for my reunion banquet over two weeks ago. The kids need to be there too. We can’t keep them hidden away forever!”
It was only then that the realization struck Baron. “I might have forgotten if you hadn’t reminded me. You’re absolutely right. It’s time we revealed your true identity. Although I haven’t hidden the fact that you’re connected to Grant International Holdings from the Gunn family, the rest of the world is still in the dark. Everyone needs to know that you are the esteemed Chairman’s wife. And the kids? They need to be seen too! We can’t let those clueless people who think we don’t have children continue to spread their nonsense.”
Seeing Baron’s playful demeanor made Natalie laugh again, her heart swelling with affection for him.
