Kennedy glanced around, annoyed by the disturbance. Natalie leaned in and whispered, “Kennedy, I think she might be even better than you. Has rural education improved this much?”
Kennedy fumed silently. Would you die if you kept quiet? Why hasn’t the thread given way yet?
She was infuriated that Serena had captivated everyone’s attention. However, Serena completed her routine flawlessly without the anticipated wardrobe malfunction.
It was said that physical appearance can influence public perception significantly. Despite her negative reputation at school, Serena’s perfect performance won enthusiastic applause and cheers, especially from the girls who had felt oppressed by Kennedy’s criticisms.
As Serena stepped down from the stage, someone in the crowd shouted, “Kennedy, why don’t you show us a performance too? Otherwise, we can’t really see the difference!”
It was clearly a taunt.
Challenged, Kennedy was always ready to demonstrate her aerobics prowess, recognized by both the provincial sports and education departments.
The routine had three levels of difficulty–high, medium, and low. When it was first introduced nationwide, even the lowest level was too challenging for most schools, which hindered its widespread adoption. There were still online posts cursing the routine’s designer for not considering human limits.
Yet, some managed to master it, turning the routine into a competitive event.
Kennedy was the only person from Evervale City to have won awards in this competition.
“Since Serena performed the basic routine perfectly, performing the same would seem unsporting. I’ll choose a medium one,” she declared, emphasizing “basic” to imply that mastering it was no big deal.
The crowd buzzed with excitement at the prospect of seeing a medium–level routine, usually reserved for competitions.
“Go Kennedy! Beat Serena!”
Serena turned and caught Thanos’s eye. He quickly retracted his cheer for Kennedy and looked away, pretending to be uninvolved.
Why did she notice me among so many? Did she install a radar on me? Well, I am quite handsome.
Kennedy, pleased with the crowd’s support, ascended the stage like a queen. Natalie started the

medium–level music.

The music set a different tone. The crowd was awestruck by Kennedy’s high–level maneuvers. Only Serena asked, “Has she won awards for aerobics?”
Three moves into her routine, Kennedy’s execution was flawed. To the untrained eye, it seemed impressive, but Serena noticed improper muscle engagement and energy flow which could potentially lead to injury. This type of exercise, originally intended for health benefits like yoga, had been adapted for youth appeal.
Rowan whispered, “Kennedy competed in the basic segment, not sure why, but she never passed the intermediate level.”
“Oh,” Serena responded, understanding the situation.
Kennedy heard this exchange from the stage and felt an intense rush of anger.
Attempting to salvage her pride, Kennedy launched into a highly challenging move–a 720- degree spin, the most beautiful and difficult part of the intermediate routine. However…
Rip, rip, rip—her outfit failed spectacularly. As she landed, her clothes were still airborne.
Screams erupted around the field, with boys cheering at the unintended reveal and girls gasping in shock.
Her top landed on her face, leaving her more exposed than ever.
“She’s wearing pink panties…”
“And her bra pads are so thick, no wonder she looked so full…”
Whispers spread quickly, and Kennedy stood frozen on the stage, too embarrassed to move for fear of revealing more.
“Get me some clothes!” she yelled at Natalie, but no one had extra clothing to cover her.
As Natalie frantically looked for something to help, Thanos stepped forward, removing his sweat–soaked shirt, revealing a well–toned upper body–a stark contrast to his usual clueless demeanor.
Kennedy, mortified yet unable to ignore the attention from such a prominent figure, mistook his approach as a supportive gesture.
But then, Thanos covered Serena with his shirt instead.
“These fitness outfits can fall apart, huh? Serena, better cover up!”

He was half–joking, half serious, recalling Serena’s fierce reputation and not wanting to become another one of her victims
Serena pushed him away, clearly disgusted. “It stinks!”
Thanox retracted his shirt, “Alright then, don’t say I didn’t try to help. Don’t go complaining to mom!
As Kennedy faced the humiliating situation, Natalie snapped, “Did you cut the wrong thread, not on Serena’s but yours? How is this my fault?”
The crowd realized what had happened–Kennedy had sabotaged her own outfit intending to embarrass Serena but ruined her own performance instead.
“Was Kennedy trying to set up Serena and it backfired?”
Confused and scandalized glances followed Kennedy as she stormed off to the changing room, leaving a lasting impression of her misstep.
“Really, Kennedy would do that?” Solstice was baffled.
Indigo, applying ice to his bruised face, watched from the sidelines, his gaze fixed on Serena, who remained expressionless through the entire ordeal. His eyes narrowed, intrigued by her
