Chapter 13 Foul Play

Celeste, accompanied by Lilian, went to the hospital hoping to gather evidence that Serena had injured her. However, the examination results took an unexpected turn when the doctor announced, “Your hand is in excellent condition; even the previous minor misalignment has been corrected. Who is your orthopedic doctor? Their skills are impressive!”
The diagnostic report clearly detailed the comparison results from two X–rays, affirming the positive impact of the treatment.
Celeste was furious upon receiving the report.
How could Zachary hold back after hearing this news? He was determined to protect Celeste.
Limping on one leg, the young man carried a bucket, having waited for an opportune moment to add some extra ingredients to it.
His accomplice was his best friend, Andrea.
“Do you really need to do this, Zachary? It was you who tried to throw paint on Serena and ended up falling down the stairs yourself. You framed her then, and now you’re still at it?”
Zachary grew even angrier upon being reminded.
“I’ve already said it was her who hit me. Why else would my knee hurt? If it weren’t for the pain, none of this would have happened! It’s all her doing!”
Andrea was exasperated, “She was downstairs, and you were upstairs. How could she possibly hit your knee?”
Unable to explain, Zachary resorted to stubbornness, “I said it was her, so it was her!”
Frustrated, Andrea looked into the bucket at the well–formed feces that hadn’t dissolved in the water, covering his nose, “Of all the things to do, why must you throw it at her? Can’t you think of something else?”
“Why change? You get up where you fall down!” Zachary retorted defiantly, never one to back down.
Seeing Andrea’s reluctant face, Zachary glared, “Are you not going to help me? Are we still friends? Have you forgotten those good old days when I fought by your side?”
Reluctantly agreeing, Andrea muttered, “Fine, fine!”
The duo stealthily made their way to the sports field.

The last class had ended, and day students were gradually heading home, leaving only a few playing basketball.
“Are you sure she’s still inside changing?”
Absolutely! She went in and hasn’t come out. We just wait here!”
Andrea was getting impatient. If Zachary spent as much effort on his studies as he did on plotting against others, he wouldn’t have to worry about getting into a prestigious university.
There she is! Do you see her? The one with the hair tie!”
From their vantage point, they couldn’t see her face, but based on the height, gender, hair tie, and the timing, it had to be Serena.
In unison, they lifted the bucket as their target walked beneath them.
“Now!”
At Zachary’s command, the bucket tipped, drenching the person below with foul–smelling liquid, and a well–formed piece of feces that had not broken apart even as it hit the victim’s head.
Zachary, who had never been so accurate in basketball, was momentarily stunned by his precision before bursting into laughter.
“Serena, you had it coming! Haha!”
“Serena, he’s calling you!” Rowan pointed to the boy above.
With a lollipop in her mouth, Serena looked up and responded indifferently, “Hmm.”
Zachary’s smile froze.
Looking from one side to the other, if Serena was over there, then who was under their feet?
Kennedy, fists clenched, was shaking with rage.
“Zachary!”
Realizing his mistake, the boy upstairs grabbed the bucket and tried to flee.
First his clothes had been ruined, and now he was doused with filth; Kennedy was furious.
Grabbing a nearby broom, he charged, while Andrea made a quick escape. Zachary, hindered by his injured leg, was caught red–handed, and Rowan could hear his cries.

Chapter 11 Foul Play
“Serena, are you alright?”

“Let’s go get some bubble tea,” Serena suggested, feeling somewhat celebratory. She hadn’t hurt anyone. had dealt with three troublemakers, and the old stubborn ones hadn’t caught her yet.
Rowan glanced at the puddle that oddly resembled the color of bubble tea.
“How about we have grilled food instead? My treat!”
Serena wasn’t particularly fond of grilled food, but the offer of a free meal won her over.
Behind the school was a street full of food stalls offering everything from skewered meats to fish.
Determined to find the cleanest grilled food stand for his pretty new deskmate, Rowan spent 3 dollars on two skewers of pork meat.
“Serena, I’m sorry, I forgot I ran out of allowance this month…”
He had genuinely intended to treat his new deskmate to a nice meal.
“It’s okay.”
This was the first time someone she just met had bought her food, even if it was only five yuan’s worth.
Biting into a skewer of chicken cartilage, pork crunch, and beef tendon, she found it tasty, albeit tough on the teeth.
Seeing that she wasn’t put off, Rowan was pleased and dragged her along to explore the snack
street.
Serena was disinterested in the snacks but watched Rowan eat with her mask on, lifting it just enough to bite.
Serena handed her a lollipop, “Here, you eat this.”
Rowan was touched, usually, it was she who gave things to others, often to be rejected or discarded. This was the first time a classmate had given her something, even if it was just a lollipop.
Quickly pocketing the lollipop, Rowan beamed, “Serena, you’re so kind.”
Kind–hearted, beautiful, and considerate!
Serena, expressionless, watched as Rowan stashed the candy in her bag and added, “Remember
to eat it.”

Confused by Serena’s serious tone, Rowan immediately took out the lollipop and started eating it instead of her grilled food.
Serena, quietly observing, didn’t feel threatened
Suddenly, the crowd stirred
“What’s wrong, dude?”
Serena turned to see a man about to faint.
The man, tall at 6 feet 2 inches with handsome features, had a clear advantage. When he collapsed, a group of girls rushed to his aid, only dispersed by a shopkeeper who knew some first aid.
A gap cleared, aligning directly with Serena. The man, barely able to keep his eyes open, inadvertently met her gaze and didn’t look away.
Chewing on a piece of beef tendon, Serena accidentally lodged it between her teeth.
Her gaze didn’t waver either.
Rowan crunched on her lollipop, “Serena, this guy doesn’t seem to be from our school.”
After struggling with the beef tendon, Serena managed to dislodge it, chewed a bit, and swallowed it whole.
“Yeah, he’s a socialite.”
The shopkeeper bustled around, “Are you okay, young man? Do you need an ambulance?”
Before he could finish, the man stood up, approached Serena, and extended his hand, “Let’s
shake hands.”
Direct and to the point.
Towering over Serena, he was so close it hurt her neck to look up. After finishing her last piece of crispy chicken skin, a trace of chili oil on her lips, she said flatly, “No handshake.”
The man, taken aback, watched as Serena walked away.
