Chapter 16 A Poker Face Can’t Hide Your Stupidity
As it turned out, no matter how shaky the cafeteria ladies‘ hands were, their eyesight was just fine. There was no way Serena, with her small frame, could finish two pieces of black pork chops. So when Thanos passed by, she casually handed him one.
Thanos was nearly overwhelmed with emotion. It was the end of the month, and everyone was broke. To buy Serena two bubble teas, he had even maxed out his meal card. He had resigned himself to a day of bland food, but now… now…
Just as he was about to say thank you, he noticed the odd looks from the people around them.
That must be envy, jealousy, and resentment, right?
He turned his head and smugly declared, “What are you looking at? Have you never seen siblings being good to each other?”
Everyone quickly averted their gaze and silently continued eating.
Rowan tugged at Serena’s sleeve hesitantly. “Serena, weren’t you saving it for the dog at home?”
Serena remained indifferent. “He eats the same.”
Rowan glanced at Thanos and fell silent.
Thanos, blissfully unaware, felt the need to reward Serena’s filial piety. “Next time, I’ll buy you another bubble tea!”
The people around them shuddered involuntarily.
The words “bubble tea” had become a nightmare for the senior girls, especially those who had been in the restroom that day.
Two girls at the next table dropped their trays and bolted out of the cafeteria.
Thanos went quiet. What just happened? Do I have bad breath?
He exhaled into his palm and sniffed. Doesn’t smell bad at all? If anything, it’s the scent of masculinity!
Hmph, they just don’t appreciate it!
“Celeste, we can’t let Serena keep bullying us like this!”
Zachary clenched his fists, seething with anger.
Celeste was equally furious. She had been forced to endure having her hand broken three

times, yet she had no evidence to pin anything on Serena.
Fine. If she couldn’t catch her in the act, she’d create an opportunity herself.
After lunch, while Serena was alone on her way to the restroom, Celeste called her to an isolated area near the lab building.
You need something?”
Serena casually sucked on her post–meal lollipop, her delicate face expressionless. The sight alone was enough to make Celeste’s blood boil, but she forced a friendly smile.
“Serena, come a little closer. I have something to tell you.”
Serena scanned her up and down. Up to no good again?
Not afraid in the slightest, she took two steps forward.
Celeste suddenly widened her eyes in mock fear, dramatically staggering backward–though she didn’t actually fall. Instead, a pen slipped out of her pocket and rolled down the stairs.
“Wait a second, I need to pick that up!”
Celeste quickly ran down the stairs. Then, with practiced ease, she tousled her hair, messed up her clothes, and used lipstick to draw red scratch marks on her arms and legs. Finally, she collapsed dramatically onto the floor, propping herself up weakly and pointing at Serena with rage–filled eyes.
“Serena, you pushed me! Ah–my hand!”
And that was it.
Lilian jumped out from her hiding spot. “Celeste, that was an amazing performance!”
Celeste dusted herself off and stood up, reviewing the video on her phone with satisfaction.
“Serena, do you even realize what just happened?”
Even your poker face can’t hide how stupid you are.
Celeste generously explained, “There are no surveillance cameras here.”
Serena swirled the lollipop in her mouth. “Oh.”
“And we made sure to block the recording of me walking down the stairs!”
Serena’s interest piqued slightly. “So what?”

“So what? Don’t you get it? Without the footage of me going down the stairs, no one can prove you didn’t push me? Once I edit out the part where I set myself up, this widen will become perfect evidence that you shoved me down the stairs and broke my hand?”
“Surprised) Didn’t expect that, did you?”
Finally, after two months of failed setups, they had undeniable proof of Serena’s violent nature.
Celeste couldn’t contain her laughter. Two whole months, and I could finally turn the tables!
Serena furrowed her brows. “Your hand isn’t broken, though.
Lilian helpfully chimed in, “You idiot, I don’t have to actually break it. I’ll just wear a cast. Who wouldn’t believe it?”
Serena nodded. “Oh, so you like wearing a cast?”
As she spoke, she stepped down the stairs. Celeste’s laughter abruptly stopped, and she instinctively retreated.
“W–what are you doing?”
I’ll help you out. That way, your evidence will be even more convincing.”
Serena grabbed Celeste’s wrist.
Snap! In an instant, the bone fractured.
Celeste’s scream nearly pierced the heavens, but Serena swiftly pressed a hand to her throat. Celeste froze, sweat trickling down her forehead, sliding across her cheek, and dripping onto Serena’s wrist.
Serena frowned. She disliked touching others, especially people like Celeste, who carried a disgusting stench.
She let go. Celeste crumpled to the ground, her left wrist grotesquely misshapen. Under her trembling fingers, she could feel the jagged edge of a bone pushing beneath her skin.
Serena turned her gaze to Lilian.
Lilian, shivering violently, frantically deleted messages from her phone. Then, hands trembling, she handed the phone to Serena. “I–I deleted everything!”
Serena took the phone, dropped it to the ground, and with a crunch, shattered it under her
foot.

Lilian felt as if her own bones had shattered along with the phone.

For once, Serena had met someone who was fearless, relentless, and willing to play games with her. So she gave her a piece of advice.
“If you hadn’t boasted, maybe I would’ve let you succeed. But since you wanted to gloat, well, it would’ve been a shame not to return the favor.”
“Serena!”
Celeste’s eyes were bloodshot with fury.
Serena didn’t even spare her a glance, turning and walking away.
Lilian looked at the shattered phone on the ground, then at Celeste’s mangled wrist, the blood draining from her face.
“Celeste, m–maybe we should just let it go? Ever since Serena left the Reed family, it’s like she’s been unleashed. She’s terrifying! I really thought she was going to kill you just now! It was so scary!”
Lilian’s entire body trembled uncontrollably. She didn’t want to be a coward, but her instincts wouldn’t allow otherwise.
Celeste, drenched in cold sweat, fumed with rage. “What are you afraid of? As long as you testify that she pushed me, even without the video, we’ll have enough proof! Everyone saw me leave for the lab with her!”
Lilian shook her head frantically. “Celeste, please spare me! I–I can’t! We’ve been friends, please don’t make me do this!”
“Lilian!”
Celeste hadn’t expected her so–called best friend to be such a coward. The betrayal sent fury surging through her, turning her eyes red.
“I’ll ask you one thing. If I report this, will you step forward to defend Serena?”
Lilian remained silent. She didn’t want to betray her friend, but she also didn’t want to have her bones snapped.
Her silence was answer enough.
Celeste stood up abruptly, Lilian rushing to follow.
“Celeste, let me take you to the hospital!”

I don’t need it!”
Her wrist was broken for nothing. Serena, just wait. I’ll make you pay for this!
As they left, a figure descended from the stairs.
It was Kelly.
Kelly picked up the shattered phone, smirking.
“So stupid. The phone’s broken, but the SIM card is still intact. It still holds evidence.”
She pried open the phone to retrieve the SIM card, only to find-
The tiny chip was shattered into over a dozen pieces.
