Anyone with a pair of eyes and a basic sense of right and wrong could tell how angry and unwilling the girl in the video was.

“The footage is authentic. Don’t believe it? Check for yourself.”

Serena had no interest in wasting her time explaining anything to them.

If they couldn’t figure out something this simple, did they even deserve to be called The All- Seeing Net?

The next day at noon, Celeste and the student council accompanied Sidney to the airport.

Sidney hadn’t slept a wink all night. Heavy shadows sat under her eyes.

She had spent the entire night waiting for Serena’s next move. A video like that had to be used somehow-either to humiliate her online or to hold it over her as blackmail.

But after all that waiting, Serena hadn’t done anything.

Sidney couldn’t figure out what the hell was going on in that bastard’s head. Still, there was one thing she couldn’t deny: if Serena hadn’t shown up last night, she would’ve had her hands broken and her future ruined.

“Sidney, call me when you land, okay? Please take care of yourself.”

Celeste’s parting words were sincere. Even though she had plenty of so–called friends, Sidney was the only one who truly treated her as an equal.

Sidney nodded, but her eyes drifted to the cast on Celeste’s left wrist. After a moment of hesitation, she said, “Celeste, maybe Serena isn’t as bad as you think. She’s just… a little weird.”

Celeste was caught completely off guard.

Here she was, sharing heartfelt goodbyes, and Sidney suddenly decided to speak up for Serena? Did she forget she was Celeste’s only true friend?

Celeste pressed her lips together, feeling a chill settle in her chest. “I know.”

Sidney realized her words might’ve hit too hard. She pulled Celeste into a hug. “Let’s keep in touch, okay?”

After they left the airport, Joshua noticed Celeste’s downcast expression and tried to comfort her. “Sidney will come back. Flights are cheap now–you could visit her anytime.”

But Celeste wasn’t thinking about that at all.

“Joshua… why hasn’t Taylor come back yet?” Her voice was full of quiet frustration.

Joshua softened. “President’s seminar is almost over. Don’t worry. Until he returns, I’ll protect you. Serena won’t get the chance to take advantage of anything.”

Celeste finally seemed to calm down a little. “Thank you, Joshua.”

Serena, meanwhile, had slept in until eleven.

Back at home, Thanos was grumbling in Olivia’s studio. “Mom, why does she get to sleep in and I don’t?”

Once or twice was fine, but this happened every week. Why the hell did she get special treatment?

Olivia gave him a look like he was an idiot. “It’s the weekend. There’s no school. What else would she do–wake up early for fun?”

Thanos was speechless.

Uh… Didn’t you wake me up at seven this morning? With a belt? I still have the marks on my

arm!

“Serena’s still young. She needs sleep to grow properly.”

“Mom, you’re so biased. Be honest–Is Serena your secret daughter or something? Why else would you pick her out of all the orphans?”

Olivia was about to scold him, but then she saw Serena standing in the doorway.

She wore fuzzy tiger slippers and a tiger–print baby pajama set. Her hair was a fluffy mess, and her sleepy eyes shimmered. She raised her hand to cover a yawn–and Olivia’s heart practically melted.

Olivia couldn’t resist. She stepped forward and gently pinched one of the little tiger ears on the hood.

The first time she saw the pajama set, she thought it matched Serena’s vibe perfectly.

Serena was like a little tiger cub–not quite weaned yet. Fierce, yes, but so soft and cuddly it made you want to scoop her up.

“Mom, I’m your secret daughter? Does Dad know?”

Olivia froze.

That tiny, deadpan face–was Serena trying to make a joke?

But Serena just stared at her with a serious look. She wanted to know–why did Olivia choose her? Even her own birth parents hadn’t wanted her.

“Serena, 1-” Olivia was just about to answer when her phone rang.

“Darling…”

The voice on the other end was grave. “Lebron’s in the hospital. Can you come right away?”

Olivia’s face changed. Her panic was impossible to hide.

“I have to go to the hospital. Thanos, stay home with your

sister.”

Thanos’s smile vanished. “Is it Lebron…”

Olivia nodded and subtly signaled him not to say anything in front of Serena.

“Mom, let’s go with you.”

Olivia hesitated.

“Lebron doesn’t like me. I won’t go near him.”

Olivia’s eyes grew hot. “Lebron doesn’t dislike you. He’s just shy…”

But now wasn’t the time for explanations.

She took a deep breath. “Alright. Let’s go together.”

When they arrived at the hospital, Lebron had just come out of emergency care and was being transferred to the ICU.
