Dr. Zimmerman went over a list of precautions and instructions for medication, then looked at Arbor. “Mr. Arbor, have you considered what I mentioned last time?”
Arbor gave a flat, noncommittal “Mm.”
Zimmerman sighed. He’d thought about it over the past few days and realized that what he’d said might have only made things harder for them.
When an illness couldn’t be cured, people could resign themselves to fate and still live well. But if it could be cured and they couldn’t get the treatment, that was true despair–living out the rest of your days without peace of mind. It was a cruelty that cut deep.
Thanos brought over a wheelchair and personally pushed Lebron out of the ward.
Lebron glanced back toward Serena. She picked up his console and smiled at him.
His ears went red instantly, and he whipped his head back around.
When they were getting into the car, Serena handed Lebron a bottle of candy. “Just eat for fun.”
Arbor and Olivia, sitting in the front, looked back but didn’t object.
Lebron had already eaten two bottles during his hospital stay, using them whenever his mouth felt uncomfortable.
Most medicine had strict dosages–too much and it became toxic. But what Serena had given him was different: a restorative formula. In the early stages, taking large amounts acted like a full–body detox and blood cleanse.
The poison in Lebron’s body had reached deep into his organs. Without a massive detox, no other medicine could work.
By her estimate, in another half a month, the green in his skin would be gone entirely.
“What about mine?” Thanos asked.
Serena looked at him. “This doesn’t improve brain function.”
Thanos was speechless. He didn’t need it!
She was definitely still holding a grudge about him spilling her candy the other day. He almost felt bad–until Serena pulled out three bottles and gave one to each of them.
Because of nerve damage from the poisoning, Lebron was paralyzed from the waist down.

Chapter 47 Going to Grantima’s
# Finished
But the Morrow family hadn’t moved him downstairs for convenience; instead, they’d installed a stair lift chair just for him.
His room was right next to Serena’s, their small balconies separated only by a strip of flowers. In the mornings, they could even greet each other.
Lebron wheeled himself out onto the balcony to check the view, when he suddenly heard the sliding door on the other side. Startled, he backed up quickly, his face flushing.
He didn’t want the pretty Serena to think he was spying on her.
“Serena…” came his father’s voice from the next balcony over. Lebron froze with his hand on the door.
“Tomorrow we’re going to your grandmother’s. Be ready.”
Arbor looked at his well–behaved daughter with a complicated gaze. “She’s your elder, but don’t feel you have to swallow grievances.”
Serena nodded–so the woman wasn’t easy to deal with.
Arbor ruffled her hair. When he stepped back inside, he found Lebron waiting at the door.
“I want to go too,” Lebron said stubbornly.
He’d never liked going to Morrow Manor. In the past, it took half a day of mental preparation before he could bring himself to go. This was the first time he’d volunteered.
Arbor crouched so they were eye level. “I won’t let anyone bully Serena.”
“I still want to go!”
Olivia came up with a tray of fruit. “We should all go. Families should be together.”
Arbor relented. “All right.”
The next morning, they set off, driving for an hour before reaching Morrow Manor–a grand estate with a vast front garden.
Arbor’s plain SUV looked out of place against the manor’s opulence.
“Don’t wander off,” Thanos warned Serena sternly. He’d meant to say If you get singled out, no one will defend you, but what came out was, “If you get lost, it’ll make me look bad.”
Serena was speechless.

Chrapte 4. Going to Grandma’s
Arbor turned and said, “Thanos, you’re not a child anymore. If you can’t learn to speak properly. I’ll break your legs.”

Thanos could only stare. How had he ended up at the bottom of the food chain? He was the Morrow family’s eldest legitimate grandson–back in ancient times, that would have made him the most noble of all!
Huffing, he climbed out first, took the wheelchair from the trunk, and lifted Lebron into it. “Come on, Lebron, let’s go!”
But Lebron locked the brakes. “Wait for Serena.”
Thanos was speechless.
Today, Serena wore a pale pink long dress with a square neckline, sleeveless, with ruffled straps over her shoulders. Her waist–length hair fell in soft, natural waves, and she looked effortlessly graceful.
“Serena.” Lebron’s cold chest seemed to melt into warmth.
She stepped forward and took his unconsciously outstretched hand. His ears turned red again. He wasn’t trying to act spoiled–really.
Thanos could barely stand it, sulking behind them like a pack mule.
Arbor and Olivia exchanged smiles.
