When the GF9 Test Subject Became His Obsession novel Chapter 96

Wendy was speechless. The whole thing just made her feel worse.

Afraid Serena’s kindness would go unappreciated, Olivia added, “Our whole family’s been eating this. It’s not poisonous.”

Not poisonous? That’s your standard? Wendy felt even worse.

Olivia turned to Serena. “Serena, when we get home, put on the bracelet Aunt Wendy gave you.”

Serena paused for a moment, then nodded.

That afternoon, Craig came by. He stepped inside, looked around, and didn’t see Arbor’s family anywhere. Mica greeted him with an icy stare. “Your mom’s upstairs.”

Craig headed up. Wendy was sitting there, drinking some nasty-tasting alternative medicine. Her face was scrunched up like a wrinkled raisin.

“They fought again?”

“Don’t get involved in this kind of mess.”

She pinched her nose and downed the whole thing, nearly gagging. She reached for the candied fruit—only to realize it was all gone. Begrudgingly, she popped two candies into her mouth instead.

Not very sweet, but the bitterness instantly vanished. Even her lungs felt refreshed.

She blinked in surprise.

She’d been taking this alternative medicine for almost a year now with basically zero results. She’d been on the verge of giving up when she noticed her dark spots were fading. And the only thing different? A few times, she’d taken these candies to get rid of the bitter aftertaste.

“Craig, don’t you know someone who does drug testing? Take this and get it analyzed.”

She didn’t really believe in miracle pills. But since Arbor’s whole family was eating them, she needed to be sure. What if they’d adopted some sweet-looking snake with poison in her veins, waiting to wipe them out and claim the inheritance? That’s how the TV dramas always go.

Meanwhile, Arbor had taken Olivia and Serena out for a fancy meal. Serena noticed how close they were to Hayes Villa and conveniently found an excuse to slip away and fulfill her “monthly package” obligations.

Hayes Villa wasn’t a standalone mansion—it was in a luxury gated community.

As she walked through the neighborhood, she spotted a familiar-looking sports car parked on the roadside.

Taylor was slumped against the steering wheel, pale as a ghost, drenched in cold sweat. His eyes were shut, and he looked like he might pass out at any moment.

Serena walked past, then doubled back. “Low blood sugar?”

“Mm.” Taylor didn’t even open his eyes.

She handed him a lollipop.

Without question, Taylor peeled it open and popped it in his mouth.

A wave of relief washed over him. He finally looked up—and froze the moment he saw who it was.

“Serena?! What the hell are you doing here?” He jumped like he’d seen a ghost, bristling with full-body alarm.

Taylor bolted out of the car and started gagging into the bushes, trying to force the candy back out. There’s no way I’m falling for this trap!

Taylor was stunned. What kind of shameless gremlin is this?!

Fuming, Taylor slammed his car door shut. But just as he buckled his seatbelt, he paused. Wait a minute... my blood sugar really is fine now...

He pulled a wheelchair from the trunk, then helped Rowan out of the backseat and into it.

Serena narrowed her eyes. Even from that distance, Patrick visibly flinched. When he looked over and saw her, his face turned red, and he didn’t say a word. Once Rowan finished saying goodbye to her family, Patrick wheeled her over.

“What happened?”

Rowan suddenly felt like a kid caught sneaking out past curfew. Even with her mask on, her face was clearly flushed.

“Well... um... it’s kind of...”

She looked completely flustered. Patrick couldn’t stand it anymore. “You gave those thugs Kaplan’s SAT Prep Plus to do, and they wanted to make a deal. They grabbed Rowan to bargain with you. Rowan fought back to protect you and ended up twisting her leg.”

Yep. That’s the whole story.

Serena looked at them like they were the ones owed an apology.

“Patrick, maybe I didn’t hit you hard enough last time.”

Patrick was speechless.

“It wasn’t him! Serena, it wasn’t his fault!” Rowan panicked, rushing to defend him. “He showed up to stop them—if he hadn’t, I really might’ve been taken. Patrick’s a good guy.”

Serena smirked. “Heh.”
