I try to pull my hands off, but she doesn’t let go She’s looking at me so fiercely, staring into my face like she’s trying to remember if I’m the one she held as a baby. Her eyes are desperate

Quickly….very, very quickly, I know I’ve had enough of it! That’s when I pull my hand forward to cut her off from holding me, and it makes her stagger away from me. I walk away, rushing off the hallway, but I can feel her screaming my name like someone who’s frustrated and crying. But 1 don’t stop running.

get back to where Monroe was. Instead of saying anything to him, I just run outside. He gets the hint that we have to go, and he stops fighting with Laura.

1 get into the car. Wren gets alongside me as I shut my eyes out. Before I can ever breathe. Janer bangs on the car window with tears in her eyes, banging or the windows continuously.

“Demetra. Demetra, don’t go! Please wait!”

Monroe gets to her and simply grabs her by the back of her cloth and pushes her away from the car. He faces her, and I don’t know what he does with his face but Janet steps back from coming closer. I see her shaking her head like she’s asking me not to go.

I can only breathe again when Monroe finally drives us from the area. The car parks near the tree line and I get out until my chest opens up enough to let air through properly.

“Are you okay?” Wren asks.

I look at her, wiping whatever heat is on my cheeks.

“I’m fine.”

“She…she’s our mom?”

“No. I think I just look like her daughter.”

“How do you know her daughter?”

“Because she died a long time ago.” I stare into the trees and then realize something “Wait around properly. “This is Coast Six.”

Wren looks up from me to the woods and back.

“Yeah it is”

I grab her arm and whisper very slowly. “We’re coming here tonight.”

Uu. Demetra-

“Demetra, nothing! Laura had something to do with all of this and these are the only woods thick enough and far enough to hide something. She knows I’m onto her so she won’t move today but it’s been over three days without my husband.” I look at Wren directly. “Everyone wants to protect me. My first duty was to protect our children and I’ve done that. Tow I’m going to do everything i can for Emris. I know what he would be doing if I were the one missing.

“Just the two of us?” She grips my arm.

“Tiffany.”

“What about Sabrina and Teddy?”

“If Teddy isn’t in her room Silver is going to notice immediately and come straight to me. He cannot know I’m not in mine. And if Slade can’t reach Sabrina and can’t reach me at the same time that’s going to raise flags.” I think quickly. “I’ll have Summer stay in my room. We have four hours to search as much of the woods as we can and get back before anyone checks.”

Wren nods slowly but it’s obvious that she’s decided to be brave about it even if she’s afraid.

I walk away toward Monroe, who is smoking a cigarette and still chuckling.

“Is it really that funny that you fought with a trybrid?” I open the car and scoff at him.

“She’s impressive and everything but it makes no sense for a Trybrid not to know my weakness. Emris figured it out within five minutes the first time we sparred…definitely clawed me.”

“Really?”

“Yeah. That wolf is genuinely powerful.”

“Oh shit.” Wren squeezes her face like that information is the worst thing Monroe can add right now when we are all going on a secret journey to find him

Monroe’s phone buzzes. He checks it. “Creed says the Gammas have all arrived on standby with the kids. Seems the District Pack is not too messed with either.”

I smile. It’s the more reason why I felt comfortable sending the kids when I heard the where the District Pack is. Aunt Allison’s ex–mate’s pack. They are known for being militant wolves.

“Were you able to sniff her at least?” I ask, regarding the girl, Ariadne who ran off when Lasked what sort of wolf she was.

“We don’t need to, Luna. She ran off. The girl is the shapeshifter plus Radius’s daughter. Now the question is who she shifted into to get close enough cause that’s how she and Lake got the Alpha.”

Chapter 221

Back at the pack house I pull Tiffany aside and give her the full version of what we’re doing Com Stx, tonight, four hours. I let her know she’s not allowed to tell Sabrina. Don’t tell Teddy Abrows do not tell the twins. Craig and Timothy.

Right before the time we ought to go, Silver and the rest of us are all having a meeting with the elders. We have the Aegis Unit partnering with our Gammas to be on the lookout for Emma While I’m listening to pack updates, I’m chatting about what I think Tiffany should bring with her.

Sandwich or nuts? I read Tiffany’s text and scoff.

“What?” Silver raises an eyebrow. “Did I say something stupid?”

“Three, four hours maximum. All you have to do is keep the blanket up over your face and take nap. If Monroe or Silver comes to the door just groan and say Amira or Milo or Emris. they assume I’m dreaming or tired. Then they’ll leave.”
