"Of course," Nanson replied, carefully gathering the signed documents. "And thank you for your trust."
With business concluded, Nanson glanced at Joyce and then extended an invitation to Sherilyn. "I'm taking Joyce to lunch in a bit. Why don't you join us?"
"Yeah, come with us!" Joyce chimed in with a smile. "There's a great French place nearby."
"Thank you, but I can't," Sherilyn said, shaking her head to politely decline. "I really can't today. I promised Jenna I'd be home to have lunch with her."
"A promise to your daughter is definitely more important," Nanson said with an understanding nod. "In that case, we won't keep you." He then added, "Do you need me to call you a cab?"
"No, no, that's alright," Sherilyn replied with a wave of her hand. "I drove, so it's very convenient." She picked up her bag and started toward the door. "I'll be going now."
"Drive safe. Take care."
"Joyce, Nanson, bye."
"Bye."
"Bye now..."
Joyce and Nanson walked Sherilyn to the firm's entrance and watched her get into the elevator.
"It's about lunchtime," Nanson said, glancing at his watch. He looked at his cousin. "I'll go get my keys, and we can take my aunt out to eat."
"Cousin..." Joyce looked up at him, her gaze knowing. "Something's up with you."
"Hmm?" Nanson paused, touching his face in confusion. "What about me?"
Setting aside their friendship, Sherilyn was objectively the most beautiful woman Joyce had ever met. Even in the entertainment industry, which was full of beauties, few could surpass her. Judging by appearances wasn't a noble trait, but an exceptional exterior was always undeniably captivating.
"But..." Joyce's expression quickly turned to one of concern. "Cousin, you're aware of Sherilyn's situation, right?"
"I am," Nanson affirmed.
"Sigh..." Joyce lamented, "She just broke up with Mr. Harrison. They've been entangled for so many years. I'm afraid Sherilyn won't be able to..."
To move on from the shadow of her past relationship, or to start a new one so soon.
Joyce looked at her cousin sympathetically. "Cousin, have you really thought this through?"
