It was as if the universe had noticed the little seed of interest in his heart and was deliberately creating opportunities for him.
"You're staying at this hotel too?" It was an unnecessary question.
"Yes," Sherilyn nodded with a smile. "If I'd known, I would have insisted you ride with us."
Nanson chuckled in agreement. "I should have asked you." He gestured toward the front desk. "I'll go check in."
"Okay, go ahead."
After he finished, he and Sherilyn compared notes. To her astonishment, she said, "It looks like we're staying on the same floor."
"It really does," Nanson's smile widened. Fate, he thought, was being unusually kind to him.
They took their key cards and went up to their floor, only to discover that their rooms were directly across the hall from each other.
Sherilyn and Nanson looked at each other and laughed at the sheer coincidence.
"It's late," he said. "You should get some rest. Goodnight."
"You too. Goodnight."
Only after Sherilyn had entered her room did Nanson swipe his key card and step into his own. He took a shower and prepared for bed. Despite the long day and the hours of travel, he felt wide awake. Lying in bed, he picked up his phone, opened Twitter, and navigated to Sherilyn's fan community page.
It was filled with posts from her fans. Nanson scrolled through them, a smile unconsciously forming on his lips. He came across a post detailing her promotional event for the next day, noting the time and location.
"So it's there," he murmured. He knew the place; it was just a street away from where he was scheduled to meet a client.
