CHAPTER 22
Logan
Amelia’s words and the sharpless of her tone leaves me speechless. Slowly, I lower myself back in the seat one of the staff members already picked up from the floor and set for me.
She has never acted like this before… The stunning woman sitting across from me, right next to my biggest enemy, isn’t the Amelia I have known all my life.
And the worst part isn’t that her entire attitude las completely changed. Amelia used to be quiet, obedient and submissive. She used to follow every order I gave, never talked back or dared to disagree with me.
But now? Now she has a voice and she’s using it like it’s Goddess given right. She isn’t just disrespectful – she’s completely dismissing my authority as an Alpha.
Amelia is acting like a brand new person and I don’t like the change I see.
Did Ethan change her into this version of herself What did he do? How?
I sit silent and glare at Ethan as he serves her food, whispering something in a gentle tone that makes Amelia smile.
“Oh no,
what’s the matter, tough guy, are you jealous?” My wolf suddenly mocks me.
He’s been insufferable ever since Amelia left the house the day she slapped Katherine. With every day passing, he became worse, more snappy and easily irritated, and now, he decides to
mock me.
Hiding my hands under the table, I pull them into tight fists to restrain myself from doing something stupid like lunging at Ethan and ripping his throat out. I tense my jaw and focus on breathing through my nose as I snap at my wolf and deny his words. “I’m not jealous!”
“Oh, is that so, Alpha?” He asks, using the same mocking tone. “Let me remind you that the last time you felt the same you do now was right after you married Amelia. Can you recall the day? Of course you can, you’ve been obsessing over it ever since she left the pack. Now, think back to how you forbid her to speak to any male warrior, remember? What was that you said, hmm? That the only man she’s allowed to talk to is only you and her father?”
I know he has more to say, but before he can continue, I shut him out and turn my fury back
on Ethan.
“Listen. Amelia is the daughter of Ravencrest’s head warrior, a high-ranking wolf, which means that taking her in without my approval is an act of betrayal, an invitation to start a war between our packs,” I sneer at him, emphasizing every word as a warning.
Amelia’s eyes widen in panic and her hands start shaking. Seeing how much my words affect her gives me a twisted sense of satisfaction, but the moment is ruined by Ethan’s loud laughter.

“Alpha Logan, I’ve never been as rigid as you are. In my opinion, anyone worthy can join Deadfang for as long as they do it of their own free will. I won’t change my mind, I refuse to send Amelia back to your pack, no matter how many consequences and wars you threaten me with.” He says and smirks at me.
His blatant disrespect and inability to accept my demands only fuels my anger.
Ethan is supposed to be an Alpha, not a little boy playing games in a sandbox. He’s arrogant enough to put his entire pack in danger simply because he doesn’t know how to back down when he’s forced into a corner.
My eyes dart between them – the difference between Ethan’s smug face and the anxious, yet relieved look on Amelia’s face couldn’t be more noticeable even if they tried to show more
emotions.
While I understand Amelia has her reasons to hide in this damned pack, I just can’t understand why she won’t come home.
Yes, maybe she’s jealous that Katherine has always gotten a little more attention and praise than she did, but does that truly matter?
Ravencrest is her home, it’s the pack she was born and raised in. That’s where her last remaining family lives, where her friends are the pack is supposed to be her entire life. I don’t like the change in her.
–
Amelia isn’t herself anymore. She’s not bothering to see the bigger picture, she’s too focused on herself and her childish tantrum. It looks like she’s becoming a truly worthy member of Deadfang, just like their Alpha, she’s selfish and uncaring.
“I insist you think about my demands carefully, Alpha,” I finally manage to growl out the words. “Reagrdless of your acceptance of lack thereof, as I said, she’s still mine.”
Ethan laughs again, but this time, the sound doesn’t carry any humor with it. He pla hand on Amelia’s shoulder, I’m sure to get under my skin, and he succeeds with it bo can think about is how much I want to break every bone in his hand so he never dares her again.
it Before I can snap at him to stop touching Amelia, Ethan speaks coldly. “Alpha Logan, like you truly didn’t arrive to discuss the peace agreement between the packs. Since you ha no intentions to honor the original invitation, I suggest you leave.”
