Verian stood at the same spot while her voice sounded slightly stiff. “Miss Heidy, I’m uninterested to know about Sam’s matters. If there’s nothing else, I’ll be taking my leave.”
Lain cracked a calm and light smile. “Miss Mont, let’s grab another drink next time when you’re free.”
Verian grinned from the edge of her lips. “I’m not as free as Miss Heidy. I’m afraid there aren't many opportunities for me to grab a drink with Miss Heidy in the future.”
The instant she was done speaking, she grabbed onto her bag and hastily left the coffee shop. Perhaps she was too frantic in her movements as all her bag’s contents fell onto the floor.
…There was a pregnancy report.
As Verian was about to bend over and pick it up, Lain picked it up before she could.
Since Lain was a doctor, a simple pregnancy report was no trouble for her to comprehend.
“You’re pregnant?”
Verian immediately snatched the pregnancy report from her and spoke with a cold expression. “Miss Heidy, you’ve overstepped your boundaries. This happens to be my own personal matter.”
Upon watching Verian’s hastily leaving silhouette, Lain dug her nails into her palms.
Heaton had actually gotten Verian pregnant.
He had actually fallen in love with Verian already?
No, only she was worthy to be Heaton’s equal in this world. No other woman could understand him, so what right did they have to give birth to his child?
…
After Verian got into the cab, her mind was a complete mess.
Lain’s statements seemed like a curse as they rung in her ears over and over again.
“Miss Mont, you truly resemble Sam Joyce.”
“Perhaps Heaton was able to see a little bit of Sam’s presence in Miss Mont. If he truly loves Miss Mont and showed that he absolutely adored her, perhaps it was the result of his guilt. He was merely trying to vent all his guilt through Miss Mont. In an ailment like this, if the patient feels like there isn’t anything left that they owe the original party, then the replacement, well, It seems they would lose their appeal.”
Could Heaton…have actually thought of her as Sam’s replacement?
When she recalled the nights in Regent Island with Heaton Fudd laying beside her, he was calling out Sam’s name.
She gripped onto the pregnancy report tightly while her tears began streaking and falling down onto the report.
The cab driver took a look at her through the rearview mirror and asked, “Missy, where would you like to go?”
Where would she like to go?
She currently did not wish to return to Shallow Bay. At this very moment, Heaton would still be at work.
“To Navy Road.”
Upon returning to the Mont family mansion, Verian immediately kept the pregnancy report in a drawer.
She instinctively felt her tiny belly as the very first reaction upon learning of her pregnancy at the hospital was to not keep the child. However at this moment, she could not bear doing so.
Should this child be kept?
All she initially wanted was vengeance for her father and had gotten herself involved in everything. Now however, it seemed she had gotten pregnant with Heaton’s child. Would her father resent her if he knew about it in the underworld?
…
The Fudd Group’s president’s office.
At the end of the workday, Kush entered after knocking on the door. “Boss, will we still be going to Yash Company to pick Miss Mont up?”
Heaton looked at the ‘chip’ on his desk. He then picked it up and immediately tossed it in the trash.
Kush was stunned. “Boss, why would you…”
“This isn’t the chip made by the Fudd Group.”
Kush was shocked, “Could it be spies sent from other companies to snatch such a business opportunity from the Fudd Group? I’ll look at the surveillance footage of the entire building right now.”
As he spoke, Kush was just about to turn around and investigate the whole ordeal. However, Heaton Fudd called out to him in a cold tone, “There’s no need. The one tossed away isn’t even the real chip from the Fudd Group anyway.”
Kush was unable to understand what he meant. “Boss, that…”
