Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 246

Although Verian was unimaginably depressed, she was no fool. John seemed considerate of her on the surface, but she knew he was still suspicious of her.

However, she also did not wish to return to the Fudd family home or want to meet Nancy and the other people. All she wanted to do now was go back to the place that she and Heaton owned so that she could lock herself away and lick her wounds in a corner.

“Alright.”

Serene was worried, so she tagged along Verian’s journey from the hospital back to the Shallow Bay mansion.

“Verian, I’ll sleep over at your place with you in the coming days. I’m worried that Nancy and your vile sister will show up to bully you!”

Verian said, “You don’t need to worry about me. Madam Leah is also staying with me.”

“How can I not worry about you when you’re acting like this? It’s decided, I’ll stay with you for a few days until your emotions are stable. I won’t bother you after that.”

Madam Leah said while laughing, “Madam, since Miss Ludd wants to tag along, just allow her to stay since you’re both close. Your mood will get better chattering with each other at night.”

Verian did not refuse. However, she usually spoke very little and had no idea on how to talk to Serene. Serene said lots things but Verian merely offered brief replies.

Although Verian no longer cried or brought up Heaton much these days, her liveliness seemed to be sapped away from her body. She ate when it was time to eat and slept when it was time to sleep. She was living so normally that there could be nothing more normal for her now.

When the day of Heaton’s funeral arrived, it drizzled.

Verian was dressed in black while she stood under a black umbrella and watched Heaton’s empty coffin be buried.

Little Jelly Bean hugged Verian’s waist, her tiny face red and puffy from the crying. She asked while feeling sad and afraid, “Monty, what happened to daddy? Is daddy really dead?”

Verian squatted down and hugged Little Jelly Bean tightly as she said, “Don’t be afraid, daddy’s only protecting us in a different way. We have to be strong.”

Little Jelly Bean sobbed and said, “But I miss daddy… Monty, I want my daddy…”

Beads of tears fell uncontrollably down the little rascal’s face. Verian’s heart wrenched as she watched her cry. She took a deep breath while holding back her own tears and spoke in a soft tone, “You’re a good girl, Jelly Bean. Hush now, don’t cry.”

“Wuuu…”

While Serene watched from the side, her tears rolled uncontrollably as Wilson embraced her.

When the grave was sealed, Verian hugged Little Jelly Bean while she kept her eyes tightly shut.

After the funeral was over, John wanted to bring Little Jelly Bean home as he said, “Let’s head home with grandpa now, Jelly Bean.”

Little Jelly Bean was unwilling to move from Verian’s embrace as she said, “I want to be with mommy, grandpa!”

Verian’s heart trembled as she thought to herself, ‘Mommy?’

Jelly Bean was finally willing to call her mommy now?

Verian looked at the little rascal with her red eyes. “Jelly Bean, what…did you just call me?”

“Mommy.” The little one pouted her lips with her teary eyes.

Verian hugged her as the tears she had been holding back finally fell. However, she still had to convince Little Jelly Bean to go home with John.

John was now suspicious of her so he was not allowing her to return to the Fudd family home. She was currently living in the Shallow Bay Mansion and unable to put energy into taking care of Little Jelly Bean. Despite that, she did not even have the ability to send Little Jelly Bean to school and pick her up anyway. Her emotional state was a mess and she was worried that if Little Jelly Bean followed her to the Shallow Bay Mansion, it might result in Verian ignoring the little rascal. That would be horrifying.

“Be a good girl now, Jelly Bean. Follow your grandpa back home first. Mommy… Mommy will come visit you in a few days, okay?”

“Mommy, you don’t want Jelly Bean anymore?”

Verian reached out and wiped away the tear stains from her tiny face as she said, “How could I? Mommy will never not want Jelly Bean but the thing is, mommy has just lost your daddy and so I’m feeling all over the place right now. I’m worried that I might not be able to take care of Little Jelly Bean properly.”

It was only after that did Little Jelly Bean relent. While sniffling, she said, “Then when you’re in a much better mood, you have to come visit me, okay!”
