Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 248

After Yuna left the room, Heaton struggled to get up as he ripped the infusion tube out from the back of his hand. Since he had just got out of bed, his legs felt weak and soft as he almost fell to the ground. He held onto the edge of the bed as support as he struggled his way to face a mirror.

The man in the mirror had his forehead wrapped in thick, white medical bandages. There were a few cuts and scrapes on his face, with dried blood still covering the wounds. His face looked as pale as ash.

He seemed as if he had been asleep for a millennium and not exactly as what Yuna had said, that he had only been asleep for a week.

He reached out his hand to gently touch his forehead. He wondered what exactly had happened recently.

After Yuna took a look at him through the half-open slit of the door, she turned around and told the housekeeper, “Uncle George, look into where Xavier is from and if he has any relatives.”

“Yes, madam.”

The housekeeper added, “Oh, that’s right, madam. The old master said that an office of the Yames Group had opened in North City recently and he wants you to manage it as training for you.”

Yuna was a little shocked as she spoke in an oddly sinister tone, “My father intentionally did that, right? He knows that I’m only capable of partying and completely unable to do anything seriously. He’s actually bold enough to make me manage an entire company on my own in North City? I think he has way too much money than he could ever spend, so he wants me to help him lose some, right?”

The housekeeper replied while chuckling, “Madam, you are very intelligent but the thing is, your focus isn’t on your career. Therefore, it’s obvious that the old master is worried about you being alone once sending you over to manage the North City branch. Therefore, I will be coming along to watch over you.”

Yuna took a glance at Heaton in the room and said, “Bring Xavier along since I’ve been bored to death recently. I could use a distraction in North City.”

“Alright, so when will we be leaving?”

“When Xavier’s in much better health.”

“Sure.”

Yuna was having breakfast at the dining table the next morning.

The housekeeper reported, “Madam, I’ve had someone looked into Xavier Fudd but after investigating everyone with the same name, we found no one that matches him in particular.”

Luna stopped cutting into her poached egg with her knife and fork as she cracked a grin with her red lips. She said, “Hmph. This brat is actually off the government records.”

“Madam, I feel like he might be lying to you? Perhaps he isn’t called Xavier?”

“Judging from his gaze, he doesn’t seem to be lying to me.”

“Madam, before we are clear with this person’s identity, I feel like you should keep your distance.”

After a week, Yuna brought Xavier to North City.

After spending a week together, Yuna was increasingly interested of the man by her side.

Xavier’s temperament was cold and he spoke very little. However, his gaze was incredibly sharp and Yuna absolutely adored men like him. The men she knew before, especially the ones brought home by her father, were all cowards. She detested men who would simply bow to her whims and had no backbone to stand up for themselves as those men were only doing that for the Yames Group. They were all pretentious to her.

Xavier however, would not bend to her will.

Suddenly, Yuna grabbed Xavier’s left hand and removed the ring from his ring finger.

Xavier had a deep frown on his face as he said, “Give it back.”

“No!”

Not only did Yuna not return the ring to him, she threaded the platinum-plated ring through a gold necklace and immediately wore it. She said, “I’m your savior. This can be your memento for me.”

Yuna then scoffed. She glared at him and said, “Where can you go if you leave me? Do you even have a home, a family?”

Xavier glared back at her coldly and said, “That’ll be my business.”

“Don’t come looking for me when you’re alone on the streets.”

She refused to believe Xavier could survive on his own in North City. Even if he could, inch by inch, she would force him back to her.

Yuna’s favorite game just so happened to be cat and mouse.

However, she had no idea that Xavier was no mouse and was not even a prey she could sink her claws into.
