"Serene Ludd!"
"What's wrong, Mom?"
Serene rushed to the washroom and noticed her mother held a man's razor in her hand!
'Oh, damn! I'm done now!'
"Whose razor is this?" Serene's mother asked with a puzzled look on her face.
Serene was stunned for a second before she grabbed the razor and started to giggle cheerfully. "Mom, that's my razor!"
"What are you doing with a razor? Do you have a beard?"
Serene blushed as she said, "Mom, you don't understand. I need to wear sleeveless shirts in such hot weather, so I should take care of my armpits."
Serene's mother was still a little skeptical about her answer, but she chose to believe Serene. Her 'menacing' gaze then shifted to that blue toothbrush. "Do you have a habit of using two toothbrushes while you're living alone?"
"Verian came by and slept here a few days ago. That's her toothbrush, and I forgot to keep it away."
"Verian? Who's Verian?" Serene's mother did not know the name.
As Serene dragged her mother to the living room, she changed the topic. "My high school classmate. We shared a desk. Did you forget that I used to tell you about her? The rich classmate who always treated me to good food?"
"Oh, that Ver… Mont…"
"Yes, yes, yes! Verian Mont, that's her!"
Serene's mother frowned and said, "Why'd she sleep here?"
"It's a long story. She's married now. She had a fight with her husband, so she came to my place."
At that moment, Verian sneezed in Fudd's family home. She wondered who had cursed her.
After Serene's mother had been successfully distracted, she lectured her daughter. "Don't interfere in another couple's fight, okay? You'd be labeled as a monster after they've reconciled."
"I didn't get myself involved. Mom, Dad, have you guys eaten breakfast yet?"
"Yes, we've eaten. Say, your high school classmate is already married. Are you not even concerned about yourself?"
"Mom…" Serene felt extremely helpless.
Serene's father gestured to his wife to stop. "Stop that, would you? Did you come all this way to lecture your daughter about her marriage? Serene, I smelled something delicious. What did you make?"
Serene's father successfully changed the topic as she immediately said, "Porridge. Dad, do you want some?"
"Sure. I'm hungry from all the driving."
Serene took a bowl of porridge for him, and when she turned around, she realized her mother was no longer in the living room. She was stunned as she said, "Dad, where's Mom?"
"Your mom went into your room. She's helping you clean up and organize your clothes."
"Go ahead and eat, Dad."
Serene immediately handed the bowl of porridge to her father before she bolted into her room.
Serene's mother had her back to the closet as she tidied a pile of clothes on her daughter's bed. It was fortunate that Wilson's clothes were not in the same bundle; otherwise, it would be awkward for her.
She looked at her closet, guiltily before she rushed toward her mother. "Mom, you don't have to clean after me. You don't come here often, so let me take you guys around town. Don't waste your time cleaning my stuff."
"Your house is in such a mess. Just look at it. How old are you anyway? How could you live in such a condition? How are you going to marry anyone if you don't clean up after yourself? Even your grandmother doesn't want you around; you deserve it! Look at this pile of clothes; are you even a lady?"
"Alright already, Mom. Look at how clean this house is after you've cleaned it up. My mother is the best!"
Serene's mother glared at her and said, "I'm not done yet. There is still so much to do. Just take your father out to town later, and I'll stay here to clean up your house. Then, I'll cook a meal while I wait for both of you to return. We'll have lunch then. Your father and I will not stay for too long; we'll head back home in the evening so we won't bother you."
"Mom, how can I let you cook when you don't come here often? I'll take you both out to lunch!"
She had to keep her mother away from her closet. Serene glanced at her wardrobe as her heart pounded.
Her mother glared at her. Serene was her daughter, so she knew if there was something weird about her behavior. Her father might not be able to detect it, but she was her mother, and she could certainly do it.
Serene had acted strangely the moment they entered the house.
