Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 473

Carrying Tyler, Helen went into the private room. The people at the table stared straight at them.

Helen came from an ordinary family when she was in secondary school. Her skin was much more tanned back then as she loved to run under the sun in her younger days. Even though she had delicate features, she did not look as stunning as she did now with fair skin. Moreover, Carter took very good care of her throughout the past three years after they were married. Not only was her skin getting better after giving birth, but her figure was also nicer as well.

This was all probably due to the taste of love.

The boys started teasing her.

“Lennie is getting prettier now.”

“Lennie, is this your son? He seems quite big already?”

Helen smiled as she introduced her son to them. “This is my son, Tyler. He’s already three years old now.”

“Three years old? You got married at a very young age.”

Helen did not conceal the truth. “Yes. I got married as soon as I graduated from university.”

Chanel and Joseph entered the room not long after Helen. Chanel was so overdressed that everybody started looking at her.

Someone teased her. “Mrs. Gale, don’t you look a bit too fancy today?”

“Chanel looks more and more like a dame!”

She lifted her chin proudly, took a glance at Joseph, and started bragging, “This is all thanks to my husband, Mr. Colin. I’m lucky to have married a good husband like him.”

Helen felt disgusted. Verian was right. Reunions were for people to compare their lives.

Helen did not speak much after they sat down and started eating. She was busy looking after Tyler.

Tyler said casually, “Mum, I want to eat some meat.”

“Have some vegetables as well. You have to have a balanced diet.”

However, it was easy for someone with ill-intentions to be able to alter the original meaning of Helen’s words.

Chanel said in a mocking tone, “Lennie, kids should eat healthier food. Don’t you guys eat meat at home? It’s not good for the kid to be too skinny. My husband will be paying the bill today and I don’t think we’ll be able to finish all the food here. You should pack some to bring back home later.”

Upon hearing that, everybody somewhat knew that Helen must have married a guy with poor financial background. Otherwise, Chanel would not have the guts to say such a thing.

Helen smiled and said, “It’s fine. You guys can take it away since you’re the one paying.”

“Come on, we’re old classmates and know each other very well. People like us who are doing well don’t really get to help people like you who are having a tough time. It’s just a few dishes. It doesn’t cost us that much. You can eat them for days if you pack them back. It’ll help you save a lot of money on meals.”

Helen pursed her lips as her smile widened. “Although it’s a waste to throw these dishes away, my husband is a neat freak. He’s not used to having food that’s been tainted by other people’s saliva.”

Chanel choked, her face turning cold as she mumbled quietly, “Not only is he poor, but he’s also a neat freak on top of that. Hmph.”

Helen ignored her. Tyler who was sitting next to Helen tugged on her sleeves, blinked his eyes as he said, “Mum, I’m full. I want to play games on your phone.”

“Oh.”

Helen handed her phone to her son. Tyler left the table and ran to the sofa in the room with the phone in his hand.

As soon as he got the phone, he searched for his father’s social media account before sending him a message.

Carter received a message from Helen as soon as he arrived home.

He opened the message.

“Dad, mum’s classmates keep roasting you and calling you a loser. They said that you’re poor and they want mum to pack their leftovers for you. Mum is so embarrassed.”

Carter was speechless.

They were calling him a loser? They said he was poor?

No one had ever said that to Carter in his 30 years of life.

After all, who was any normal person to judge him by calling him a loser or poor?

However, there had been plenty of pathetic people who wanted to test his boundaries recently.
