They kissed passionately under the shroud of darkness. Serene did not know how she found her courage when she took off Wilson's armor.
The man immediately held onto her misbehaving hands to stop her as he stared at her with his dark burning gaze. He said, "I haven't bathed in days. I'm filthy."
"I don't mind."
Wilson stared at her with a loving gaze as he smiled and said, "Excited?"
Serene blushed when he teased her; she frantically withdrew her hands and said, "No!"
Such a reaction would prove that she had hidden her intentions.
She hurriedly got out of Wilson's embrace so that he would not continue to tease her. Then Wilson immediately walked into the washroom.
After the man showered, Serene cautiously asked, "Well, can I sleep here tonight?"
She had slept in his room while he was away. However, he had returned, and if he did not agree to reconcile with her, she would have to get his consent to stay there.
Wilson was stunned. As he dried his short hair, he said, "If you don't sleep here, then are you going to sleep in another man's room?"
"No."
It was Serene's turn to be stunned. After she snapped out from her trance, her eyes glimmered with joy as she said, "So, we're back together then, right?"
Wilson smiled and tossed his towel aside before he strode toward her with his long slender legs. Then he carried her to the bed.
"I am more willing to let my actions speak for itself. What do you think?"
Serene's eyes flickered as she stayed in Wilson's embrace. As long as she was with Wilson, everything would work out fine.
"Well, you did mention that you wanted to send me back to North City."
"It's too dangerous here, and besides, the living conditions are horrible as well. You won't be comfortable here."
Serene persisted. "If you can live here, why can't I?"
Wilson stared at her with a gentle gaze as he sat her down on his lap. "I am a man, and I'm used to these living conditions."
"Joan and Ruby are women, too. If they can do it, so can I."
"You are different from them."
Serene lowered her gaze as she felt Wilson underestimated her. However, she also thought that he spoke the truth, so she pouted and said in a slightly deflated tone, "I know I can't compare to them. They know how to use a gun and fight, so they are capable of defending themselves. I'd only be a burden if I were to stay here. I know that. If you really want to send me back to North City, then so be it. I will wait for you in North City."
Wilson felt sympathetic when he saw her sad look. "What I meant was I don't care about Ruby or Joan's well-being because they are not my girlfriend. You are, and my heart will ache for you."
Serene's long luscious lashes trembled. Then she stared at him with a cheerful look as she said, "You're not lying to me, right? You're not trying to convince me to return to North City by saying that, right? You will visit me after I'm back in North City, right?"
She asked a series of questions in a single breath as Wilson held onto her slender back with his huge hand. He chuckled and answered patiently, "I will, and I'm not lying to you."
"Then, can you promise me to never lie to me again?"
"Yes, I won't lie to you again."
The woman pounced into his embrace and hugged his neck tightly.
