Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 573

Wilson left at dawn on the third day.

The city was still asleep when he left. Serene heard the deafening roar of a helicopter preparing to take off on the roof.

She was curled up in Wilson’s embrace then. Firmly clinging onto his arms, she was awake but pretended to be asleep.

She felt Wilson trying to pull his arms away from her grip but failing.

It seemed like Wilson realized she was pretending to be asleep. Hence, he lowered his head to press a kiss on her head before speaking in his deep and hoarse voice, “Don’t worry. I’ll come back to marry you.”

Serene pretended to roll over in her sleep. She loosened her grip on his arm, faced her back to him, and buried herself underneath the covers. Her hair was hanging down over her face so Wilson could not see her expression.

He stared at her silently for quite some time before standing up swiftly to get dress.

About 10 minutes later, Serene heard his footsteps as he walked out the door.

She clenched her fingers underneath the blanket.

She told herself that he would be back soon, so she need not overreact and run after him.

However, there was another voice in her head telling her that she would not know how long Wilson would be away and how dangerous his mission would be this time. She did not know when would be the next time they could see and hug each other again.

Right when Wilson opened the door and was about to leave, the girl threw off her blankets and quickly scrambled out of her bed, bolting barefooted toward Wilson.

The girl wrapped her arms tightly around the man’s sturdy back.

“Wilson, you really can’t bring me along with you?”

“I’m a doctor. I can bandage your wounds if you get hurt. I can lend a helping hand staying by your side.”

“You don’t have to take care of me. I’ll take good care of myself…”

The man answered her after a moment of silence.

Well, she knew that was going to happen.

She loosened her grip gradually and said, “You have to protect yourself and come back safely.”

Wilson turned around and hugged his woman.

“If you ever feel lonely, just know that I’ll feel lonelier. If you ever miss me, just know that I’ll be missing you as well. I wish I could stay by your side as much as you want. Serene Ludd, I love you more than you can ever imagine.”

Serene kept silent.

She could not utter a word because she knew that she would break down in tears if she started speaking now.

She tried her best to smile and waved goodbye to him.

She and the baby would wait for his return.

The first day after Wilson’s departure, she missed him.

The second day after Wilson’s departure, she missed him even more.

The third day after Wilson’s departure, as usual, she missed him.

The fourth day after Wilson’s departure, she found a bottle of candy in a corner.

It was a glass bottle and inside, it contained numerous colorful candies. There were also chocolates inside the bottle.

A sticky note was attached to the glass bottle. “I’ll be back as soon as you finish all the candies. Be a good girl.”

Serene held the glass bottle close to her and her heart melted.

Wilson prepared a huge bottle of candies for her because she had low blood sugar.

She would grab a few candies from the bottle whenever she had free time and eat them. Her candies disappeared fast. However, it was a painfully slow journey waiting for Wilson’s return.

Serene stopped when only one-third of the candies were left in the bottle.
