Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 575

The underground river was very deep. They dived for over three hours yet they were still far from the bottom of the river. However, something was sparkling underneath the water. It seemed like there were numerous minerals underwater.

Thompson’s eyes lit up. He took the lead and dived down. After finding countless diamonds under the water, he swam his way back up again. He waved his hands at Ruby and Wilson, signaling for them to come over.

Wilson and Ruby dived toward his direction, spotting the diamonds as well. It did not seem like they originally belonged there. It seemed that someone had hidden them under the water. However, who would hide such a large amount of diamonds underwater?

They ascended from the underground river, took off their oxygen mask, and exited the mouth of the underground river.

Thompson said excitedly, “It was worth coming all the way here. We found so many diamonds under the water. I observed the surroundings earlier and realized that besides diamonds, there were also lots of ancient gems and antiques. We’ll reap large profits if we can bring all that treasure back!”

Ruby said rationally, “It’s weird how we could find such valuable treasures so easily. Moreover, I saw a lot of corpses under the water. Although they might not have modern tools like us to bring all the treasure back, they could have made a fortune simply by taking a few treasures back with them. However, so many people died down there. Don’t you guys think something is off?”

Wilson nodded his head. He agreed with Ruby. “I agree with what Ruby said. There weren’t any traps to hinder our search earlier and we found the treasures far too easily. Many people have come before us. They wouldn’t have gone home empty-handed since the treasures were so easily discovered.”

“However, we did come across the treasures earlier? Are we going to give it up because of some unknown danger? Our purpose for coming here was to search for it.”

Unheeded, Wilson walked toward the campsite and said, “We’ll bring back the treasures but safety comes first. We should see this from a long-term perspective.”

Thompson spread out his hands. “What are we waiting for? I would’ve salvaged all the treasures earlier if you guys didn’t stop me.”

Ruby rolled her eyes at him. “You only think about money. Can you stop being such a loser?”

“Who won’t think of money after seeing so much treasure?”

Ruby frowned and explained to him, “Is your life more important than those treasures? I had an odd feeling when we were in the underground river earlier. It doesn’t look like the bottom of a river to me.”

Frustrated, Thompson said, “Don’t tell me it’s that f*cking sixth sense of yours. Why do women have so many intuitions and sixth senses?”

Wilson said, “I felt the same way as Ruby. It seems like there’s something else about that river.”

Thompson’s eyes lit up and started imagining scenarios. “Could there be an ancient tomb under the river? If it’s an imperial tomb, no, even if it’s just one of a princess’s, all of us will become filthy rich!”

Ruby said, “You must have gone crazy wanting to get rich so badly.”

After they returned to their tent, Ruby asked, “That underground river felt so strange. Are we really going down to retrieve the treasures?”

“That river was indeed strange. However, our purpose for coming here is to look for those treasures. Therefore, we have to bring them back. However, extracting them will be particularly troublesome.”

Ruby recalled the amount of treasure underwater and said, “Even if all of us dive down to retrieve them, one week wouldn’t be enough time for us to get everything out. Moreover, the tools we brought with us are insufficient. I’ll bring some mercenaries along with me tomorrow to retrieve some of the treasures first. Let’s check the ageing and worth of them. If they’re not valuable enough, I feel that it isn’t necessary to risk our lives for it.”

Wilson nodded slightly. “Alright.

The next morning, Ruby dived into the water with a few mercenaries. Thompson clamored to tag along as well, while Wilson stayed on land to assist them in case of any emergencies.

The underground river started shaking as soon as they reached the bottom and picked up some gems.

Wilson felt the vibration as well. Giant rocks started rolling down from the cave above him. Ruby and Thompson sensed something unusual, so they immediately ascended the river with the mercenaries. However, when they got out of the cave, they realized the vibration from the underground river had triggered a large avalanche.

Enormous snowballs were rapidly rolling down the mountain and about to run over Wilson and his men.

They ran but their speed was nowhere near the speed of a snowball accelerating down the mountain hill due to gravity.

Right when a huge snowball was about to crash into Ruby, Wilson grabbed his gun, aimed at the snowball’s center, and pulled the trigger.

The snowball instantly shattered into countless pieces of snowflakes.

However, more snow came pouring down on them from the mountain and they were caught in a whiteout. It was as though the snow wanted to swallow them whole.

Thompson screamed as he ran. "F*ck, I don't want to die in this godforsaken place at such a young age! Nobody can find my corpse if I die here!"

Ruby said, "Shut your big mouth and run!"

Roar!

Even the well-trained assassins could not outrun the pouring snow.

They drowned in the snowfield.
