Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 607

Once Heaton reached Z country, he met with Wilson.

After he delivered the weapons to them, Wilson brought Heaton to Ruby's Mount Hope Mansion.

"How was your journey?" asked Wilson.

Heaton replied, "I saw some of the Light Organization's guards on patrol, but it wasn't a huge issue. Everything's settled."

Wilson patted Heaton's arm as he looked at him. "I'm so sorry you had to go through that, but thank you."

Heaton laughed. "I've done far more dangerous things for you, and I've never gotten a 'thank you'. Why now?"

Wilson shook his head. "It's different now. You're not single anymore. You have a wife and two kids waiting for you. I was desperate for the weapons. Otherwise, I would not have asked for your help."

Heaton teased him. "Since you know I have a wife and two kids to feed, you don't have to thank me verbally. Just add another zero behind the amount for my commission."

Wilson smiled. He felt much happier and less guilty when he heard those words. "Sure."

As they entered Mount Hope Mansion, Heaton scanned his surroundings and said, "When I arrived at Z country, I realized that the entire country is under martial law. With the Light Organization's powers, I think they will find out about this soon."

"You're right. They have spies everywhere. If we head out now, they'd see us quite easily. We'll have to move fast."

When they got out of the car, Heaton said, "You said that it's different for me now. It should be the same for you as well. Aren't you getting married to Serene? Are you still planning to run this dangerous gig?"

At the mention of Serene's name, Wilson's eyes dimmed. He said, "Once I get rid of Stephen, and Z country and the Light Organization are relatively stable, I'll take Serene home to live out our lives in peace. I won't take part in any of this anymore."

"Serene is also here?" Heaton did not expect Wilson to bring Serene to such a dangerous place.

Wilson explained, "Stephen kidnapped her. She was turned into a puppet assassin. We've just rescued her, but she has not regained consciousness. I'm still experimenting on the drugs that might help to wake her up, but so far, I've not made much progress."

Heaton rarely saw that side of Wilson. He patted Wilson's arm to comfort him. "It will all be fine. Serene is one hell of an active bunny. She's even more active than Little Jelly Bean. She won't be confined to the bed for long."

At the thought of Serene prancing around, Wilson's eyes softened. He smiled and said, "Yes, she is pretty active. Now that she's bed-ridden, I have no one to talk to, so I'm still not used to this silence."

As they entered the mansion, Wilson introduced Heaton to Ruby and Thompson. They exchanged pleasantries and then sat down. Then, Heaton's phone rang.

It was Verian.

Heaton smiled gently and excused himself. "Excuse me; I have to take this call."

Ruby looked at Heaton's silhouette on the balcony and raised her eyebrow. "He looks familiar."

Wilson sipped his water and said slowly, "You've fought against him before. Five years ago, at East Dacher.

"What?! He's an assassin?"

"Yes, but he has retired for a very long time and rarely makes an appearance. He sells weaponry from time to time when he's bored."
