Ruby laid on the couch and started reading for a moment after lunch.
Serene was surprised to see Ruby reading a book. She never expected a ‘rough lady’ like her to have the habit of reading anything… To Serene, it seemed very uncharacteristic of her personality.
Ruby had ordered some dessert to be delivered to the mansion. She made Serene pick up the order. Serene’s eyes lit up when she noticed the delicate little cakes.
“Oh, you like sweet desserts too? I thought you’d judge women like me who absolutely love sweets like these. Wow, you can be feminine too!”
Ruby replied immediately, “Oh, come on. I’m a very feminine woman, alright?”
Serene felt uneasy since Ruby sounded quite hostile when she made that statement!
After having a simple tea break, Serene was planning to take a nap when she returned to her room since Ruby was still reading her book.
However, she could not sleep when she laid in bed. Serene was hugging her phone and wanted to contact Wilson but had no idea how.
She wanted to ask Ruby. However, her intuition told her that Ruby would not tell her!
Ruby might feel that if she contacted Wilson now, it would only add to his troubles and might even affect Wilson’s mood.
Hence, Serene gave up on that thought. The woman smiled when she stared at the jar of candy placed on the shelf beside the bed.
She grabbed the jar and stared at the colorfully wrapped candy. She opened it and fished out a piece of candy of her favorite color. She then unwrapped and ate it.
It seemed this brand of fruit-flavored candy tasted quite good. The taste was not too overwhelming.
After Ruby was done reading, she walked by the room and noticed Serene lying in bed eating a piece of fruit-flavored candy while hugging the jar.
Ruby stood by the door like a parent as she stared at Serene while crossing her arms. She said, “So you’re secretly eating candy behind my back.”
The instant Serene heard her voice, she frantically hid the candy jar underneath her covers and said, “I am hypoglycemic so I need to eat candy.”
“What kind of candy are you eating anyway? They look really good. Come on now, let me take a look.”
Serene hugged the candy jar in her arms as if it were precious to her. She exclaimed, “No way! I’m willing to share anything else but this.”
These candies were counters Wilson left for her. If Ruby ate them, it would have messed up her count!
Ruby raised her brows when she looked at how precious those candies seemed to Serene. She said, “That seems precious to you. Is that a gift from Wilson?”
The woman nodded bashfully as she said, “This is an agreement between Wilson and I.”
“If that’s the case… I want to eat it even more now!”
Ruby rushed over and acted like she was about to snatch it from Serene. However, Serene seemed foolishly unfazed as she furiously glared at her.
“Alright then. I can’t be bothered to snatch it from you. I don’t even want your dumb candy. You know, only naive women like you will believe cheesy tricks like these by men. These are tricks used to specifically lie to you, you know?”
Serene scoffed and replied, “I am willing to be lied to! Unlike you, no one is even willing to trick you!”
Ruby raised her brows and stared at her with a funny look before asking, “How much do you know about me?”
“I don’t dare to say how much I know about you but if there’s one thing I can say for sure, it’s that I know more about romance and dating than you ever could!”
“Huh, where did that confidence come from? Do you know how many people are after me…”
Before Ruby could finish, Serene interjected by saying, “Yeah, I know, I know. People who are waiting in line for you are longer than the circumference of the Earth!”
“Hmph, I’m glad you know it then.”
