Lucy was about to head to class when she was called to the school principal’s office the next morning.
When she entered the office, she saw Yanni there. He was in a pleasant conversation with the principal.
The principal smiled kindly at Lucy and said, “Ms. Lucy, President Quain said that he contacted you when he reached Peak Valley yesterday. Why didn’t you tell me? I could have prepared for his arrival.”
Lucy was shocked, but she bit her lip and said, “I’m sorry, Principal. I got home from town quite late last night, so I forgot to tell you.”
The school principal waved and said joyfully, “It’s fine, Ms. Lucy! President Quain says that the two of you are acquainted. He wants a tour of our school and the surrounding area. Why don’t you take a day off and bring him around?”
“Principal, I’m…not familiar with the surroundings.”
Yanni took one look at her and said, “I just want to have a look around. Is that too inconvenient for Ms. Lucy?”
The school principal gave Lucy a push; he said, “Ms. Lucy, since you’re already acquainted with President Quain, you’re the best candidate for this task. Furthermore, this donation was also partly thanks to you.”
Lucy bit the bullet and agreed to it.
When they exited the principal’s office, Lucy maintained a distance from Yanni. She avoided him like the plague.
Yanni frowned. Then he turned around and asked, “Ms. Lucy, are you leading the tour, or am I?”
Lucy pursed her lips. She walked toward him and said, “Let’s go, President Quain. I’ll give you a tour of our school. However, Zephyr Primary School is a small school, so there is nothing much to see. The money you donated will be used to build a canteen and a library, but the work for that has barely started.”
Lucy walked in front of him and gave a brief introduction to each building; she did not care if he was listening or not.
