After Lucy collected Yanni’s clothes that were left out to dry in the evening, she used a hairdryer to further dry them.
Yanni had been laying in bed for the entire day now. He never got out of bed except when Lucy went to the cafeteria for food in the morning and at noon. He was even cuddling with Lucy in a very barbaric manner in bed. He told her that a pregnant woman should spend more time resting.
Lucy threw the dry clothes at Yanni. After noticing how much time Yanni spent in bed today, she said, “Get changed. Let’s head out for dinner later.”
After Yanni got dressed and freshened up, he stood in front of Lucy and said, “You know, River did technically take care of you in my absence. Should we treat him to a meal before we return back to North City in a few days?”
Lucy glared at him and intentionally questioned him back, “Who told you that I’d be returning to North City with you?”
Yanni lowered his eyes and stared directly at her. “You really want to spend the rest of your life in a secluded place like this?”
“Who told you that this place is secluded? Come on now, North City is secluded okay? You know, Peak Valley is surrounded by bird nests and nature.”
Yanni was speechless.
The man hugged her and completely buried her into his arms before whispering in a deep voice into her ear, “But I planted a courtyard full of roses back at the Blue Precture Villa. They’re waiting for you to come home.”
Somehow, Lucy’s heart trembled violently as she stared intensely at Yanni with her beady eyes for a good long while before finally hugging his neck with both arms.
Yanni lowered his head and kissed her earlobes before asking, “So, are you going to return to North City with me now?”
Lucy jokingly said, “I need to help you tend to the roses back at North City, okay. How could a ruffian like you possibly know anything about tending to weak and frail flowers?”
The man smiled as he hugged her waist tightly with his huge hand. He teased, “So, those roses are more important than me, now?”
Lucy hugged his neck and looked at the beautiful scenery of the setting sun out the window. She replied while beaming, “Roses are important but what’s more important is the fact that you planted them for me.”
Yanni felt incredibly happy from her reply so the man lowered his head to kiss her cheeks as he said, “I will give you a mountain of roses in the future.”
…
Lucy was obviously aware of how much work Yanni had delayed during his time in Peak Valley.
Yanni stayed behind in Peak Valley just for her and Lucy no longer had any reasons to stay behind now that she had fully recovered from her own emotional trauma. She initially planned to stay in this place completely separated from the world and now, it seemed like it was time for her to leave.
After Lucy tendered her resignation letter as she entered the principal’s office.
“Thank you for taking care of me and tolerating me for the last half year, Principal. However, I really need to head home now.”
After the principal accepted her resignation letter, he gave her a teasing smile and said, “Oh, Lucy, it turns out that you knew President Quain long before this. Hence, that’s why President Quain would be so willing to donate five million bucks to our school. I’ve always found this ordeal odd and now it seems I fully understand it. President Fudd only donated it for your sake.”
Lucy was a little flustered from what the principal said as she raised her hand to tuck her messy hair behind her ears. She said, “Oh, principal, please stop making fun of me.”
“Go home, Miss Joyce. Zephyr Primary School’s doors will always be open for you. You can come back to visit anytime.”
“Thank you, principal.”
…
Lucy had a teary farewell with her students.
When Lucy buried her face into Yanni’s lap as the black Bentley left Zephyr Primary School, she finally teared up.
Yanni remained silent as he merely raised his hand to gently pat the woman in his arms.
