It was at Fame City in M Country.
Ruby was trapped in the mansion for one whole day.
She finally remembered who Yaakov was.
The maid brought her the porridge and asked her to have some, “Ms. Rubes, you haven’t eaten anything the whole day. You should eat something .Otherwise, the Young Master will blame us.”
Ruby took the porridge and gulped it down. She wiped the corner of her mouth with her hands.
“Where is your Young Master? I want to see him.”
“He’s not back yet.”
A black Bentley minivan entered the yard as they were talking.
It was starting to drizzle outside.
The driver got out from the car, opened a black umbrella, and pulled open the rear door.
Yaakov got out of the car and walked into the mansion with his long legs while holding the umbrella.
He saw Ruby standing by the door as soon as arrived at the house. It seemed like she was waiting for him. His heart stirred subconsciously.
“Are you waiting for me?”
Ruby looked at him and said, “I remembered you. You’re Anderson, right?”
Anderson was the name given to Yaakov by the director of the welfare institute when he was young.
It meant safety, success, and luck.
Yaakov closed the umbrella and stood in front of the door. He stared at her face for a long time.
He felt butterflies in his stomach when he heard her calling him ‘Anderson’.
Yaakov handed the umbrella to his maid. He walked past Ruby and faced her with his back. Taking a deep breath, he looked calm and indifferent. “You finally remembered me.”
Ruby pursed her lips and said, “Thank you for saving me.”
She only had that to say even after knowing his identity?
Yaakov went upstairs immediately.
Ruby followed after him.
Ruby said as they arrived at the study room, “Yaakov, did you save me just to lock me up in this place?”
Yaakov lowered his head and started going through his files. He spoke calmly, “My goal is not to lock you up.”
“What do you want me to do so that you’ll let me go?”
“Are you that desperate to go back to find Blaine Glaceau?”
Yaakov’s face turned cold and he raised his voice in anger.
Ruby was slightly stunned. She let out a faint laugh and said, “It seems like you did a thorough background check on me.”
Yaakov stood up and walked up to her. He grabbed her wrist and spoke in a solemn tone, “Since you remember me, why don’t you have anything to tell me? I thought you would have a lot to tell me after we reunite.”
Ruby laughed lightly, “It’s been over 10 years. It’s all in the past. What’s there to say? I really appreciate you saving me and I’m happy to be reunited with you but you don’t have to treat me as someone really important. We’re just passers-by in each other’s life journey.”
Yaakov frowned. He got slightly angry because of her indifferent and calm tone.
“Are you still angry because I didn’t bring you along with me back then? My grandfather did not agree at that time. I…”
Ruby cut him off before he could even finish his sentence. “I don’t blame you. You were too young back then. I simply lost a childhood friend after your family found you. I was sad but never once did I blame you. Moreover, I was adopted not long after you left.”
“Does that mean I’m just a childhood friend to you?”
Ruby was stunned. She looked at Yaakov’s deep gaze and said, “Don’t tell me you’ve been looking for me all these years.”
They were young and immature yet he took it seriously.
“I want you no matter who took your heart away.”
“But I don’t want you… I have a boyfriend.”
Yaakov laughed instead of raging. “A married couple can divorce nowadays. You can break up with your boyfriend anytime.”
Ruby was speechless.
Ruby did not know how to answer him. Thus, she asked, “When are you letting me go?”
Yaakov stared at her seriously and squinted his eyes. “Until you fall in love with me.”
