Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 793

Boyle knew where Jennifer’s father was coming from. However, the law was not a place for emotions. He comforted him objectively, “I promise you that at the very least, the defendant won’t be punished lightly. I can guarantee you that I’ll do my best to sentence him to ten years of prison.”

However, he was unsure if he could get a more severe punishment for the defendant such as life imprisonment.

Jeniffer’s father nodded and said in a strangled voice, “Lawyer Boyle, thank you so much. With your words, I feel more at ease.”

Huntley approached them and patted on Jennifer’s father’s back. “Uncle, rest assured. He’s been very popular in the Faculty of Law during our university days. He’s never lost a case ever since becoming a lawyer. Even if you don’t believe in me, you still have to trust him. Just head home and wait for the second instance to be scheduled. We’ll notify you and your daughter the moment we receive the news.”

Jennifer’s father did not know what else to say other than expressing his sincere gratitude to them. “Thank you so much. I really mean it. You two worked so desperately for our lawsuit but are receiving only so little from us. I… I…”

His voice trailed off as he was choked with tears.

Boyle patted his back lightly. “This is what we’re supposed to do. Go home and rest. Be careful when you’re on your way back.”

“Sigh, okay.”

From a distance, Cherie’s eyes were on them the whole time, and she could not help but adore them. They were high-spirited and full of righteousness just like how main characters were in storybooks and movies.

She realized that the more information she found out about Boyle, the more profound her feelings were toward him. Every aspect of him was outstanding and her admiration toward him grew stronger each day.

Huntley stared at the retreating figure of Jennifer’s father before coming back to his senses. “Let’s eat.”

He turned around and realized that Cherie was missing. “Huh? Where’s Cher?”

Boyle turned around and not far away, he spotted the little girl all by herself. Huntley called her over and she ran toward them.

Huntley asked, “Cher, where do you want to eat?”

“I’m okay with anything.”

Boyle lowered his head and glanced at her. He then threw her off with an unexpected question. “Do you not have any classes in the morning or did you skip them?”

‘How does he know that!’ Cherie exclaimed internally, speechless at his comment.

Boyle took her silence as a ‘yes’. He strode toward her and uttered impassively, “Don’t skip your classes anymore.”

“Okay.” Cherie was crestfallen as she answered him. When they left the court, Huntley and Cherie both walked together behind Boyle.

Huntley’s lips curled into a mischievous smile. “It seems like he’s started to care about you.”

Cherie pouted her lips and disagreed, “Why do I feel like I’ve given him a bad impression of me by skipping classes?”

“Does it even matter? The important thing here is that you’ve given him a strong impression. He can’t help but care about things related to you. This proves that you’ve succeeded in catching his attention.”

“Huntley, are you a relationship expert?”

Huntley waved his hand in a gesture of embarrassment. “You flatter me. I’m barely considered one.”

Meanwhile, Boyle felt a little uncomfortable deep within. Since when did Huntley and Cherie become so close? They were muttering behind him all this while.

With his hand in his pocket, he turned around and asked them in a cold and stern tone. “What’s taking you two so long? Do you two even want to eat?”

Cherie scurried toward him. “You walk too fast. We can’t catch up to you with our short legs.”

Huntley went toward them and placed his arm around Boyle’s shoulder. “Exactly. You’re the one who’s walking so fast and yet, you’re still blaming us for being too slow.”

‘Us? Huntley keeps chiming in with her. Since when have they become so close?’ Boyle wondered.

He flung Huntley’s arm away and glared at him.

“I say, what’s wrong with you today? Are you on your period? Otherwise, why do you seem to be having mood swings today! Cher, let’s go. Don’t be bothered by him. I’ll take you somewhere nice!”

Boyle was surprisingly pissed. He stretched his arms out and pulled Cherie closer to him. “You’re a bad influence.”

After dissing him, he grabbed Cherie’s wrist and walked away, leaving him behind.

Huntley deliberately brushed his nose. There was a mischievous glint in his eyes.

‘Ha! Interesting! This tactless man has finally come to his senses? Does his reaction imply that he’s jealous?’ Huntley wondered.
