Cherie was staring at Boyle with her huge teary eyes. Tears began rolling out of the corner of her eyes when she gently blinked. She asked in a depressing tone, "Why didn't you pick up my call earlier?"
"I was showering earlier. When I called you back, your phone had been switched off."
"My phone died and I didn't bring along my charger."
Boyle raised his long fingers to wipe the warm tears off the corner of her eyes as he said, "Why didn't you inform me earlier that you're coming over to visit?"
If she truly missed him that much, he could always make his way over to North City just for her. She was a fool indeed.
The woman clutched onto the fabric of his shirt tightly by his waist with both hands before burying her little face into his nape as she mumbled, "I wanted to give you a surprise but I ended up scaring you instead."
Boyle's heart was melted into a soft mess as his anger had all been transformed into sympathy. He reached out to hug her tightly before letting out a huge sigh.
She complained softly in her embrace, "You're so mean."
Boyle lowered his head to kiss her forehead.
Cherie curled up in his arms when a gust of wind blew. She raised her little tear stained face as she stared at his handsome chin. She said, "I'd be frozen solid soon."
He could feel her body tremble.
Boyle took his jacket off and draped it over her shoulder. He took her backpack off and carried it over his shoulder.
When Cherie wore his oversized jacket, she looked like a little child wearing an adult's clothes and this made her look extremely adorable.
Boyle's height was about the same as her father's. He stood at roughly 1.88 metres tall and all four of his limbs were long. As she wore his jacket, the long sleeves completely covered her hand.
Boyle raised her arm and rolled up the sleeves for her. Her little hands were only exposed after folding them over several times.
After that, the man led her to his home while hugging her.
After Cherie finally snapped out of her confusion during their walk, she asked, "Am I going to sleep in your house tonight?"
"What do you think? Do you want to sleep on the streets tonight then?"
Cherie was speechless.
She bit her lips and asked, "Will your family members think that I'm a good girl?"
Boyle lowered his gaze and took a gentle glance at her before calmly saying, "I only have a single mother. My mother and I get along really well. She won't think that you're a bad woman. Besides, I told her that you're my girlfriend already so even if you want to stay somewhere else, she will make you stay in my home…"
He actually told his closest family member about her without a second thought.
Cherie beamed delightfully.
When she recalled the incident at the airport and her hiding his identity from Tyler, it must have made him really angry then, right?
"I didn't keep your identity a secret from Tyler on purpose back then at the airport. I was only afraid of Tyler's huge mouth and him actually telling my parents about you. My parents don't exactly allow me to date yet, so I had to keep your identity a secret."
Boyle asked after she was done explaining, "Who is Tyler then?"
"Don't you remember? He's my best friend that came to pick me up at the airport."
Boyle's gaze felt sharp suddenly as he asked, "He's close to you?"
Cherie nodded and said, "Yeah, we have known each other since childhood. His father knows mine, so our families are pretty close."
Boyle suddenly asked, "He likes you then?"
She denied it immediately, "No way. He even told me a few days ago that he already has a crush and we're only best friends."
Boyle lamented in his heart, 'Just what kind of a naive girlfriend do I have?'
However, fortunately, she was quite dull and naive since if she was actually mature in terms of relationships, she might actually already be someone else's girlfriend.
Boyle was grateful that she was still an innocent and pure blank sheet of paper before she even met him.
…
Although Sonia was not as sociable, she was very polite.
Cherie could feel that Sonia loved her a lot.
Boyle placed her backpack on his couch before telling Sonia, "Mom, Cherie has been freezing out there for a really long time now. Could you brew some ginger tea for her?"
Sonia nodded with a smile as she said, "Sure, alright. I'll get to it right now. Please hang tight for now, Cherie."
"I'm not in too much of a hurry, aunty."
Sonia told Boyle, "Boyle, pour your girlfriend a glass of hot water, would you."
