Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 939

Boyle was making dinner in the kitchen during the evening.

He was startled by a loud shattering sound coming from upstairs.

Boyle rushed upstairs and when he opened the door, he was greeted by Cherie lying in bed while she reeled in pain. Her face looked incredibly pale as she was covered in cold sweat and it seemed she had broken a vase.

The vase was shattered while water was spilled all over the ground.

Boyle strode over to her and immediately hugged her into his arms before reaching out and moving her long hair away from her sweat covered face.

Cherie could not stop coughing while she grabbed onto Boyle's shirt by his waist tightly as she spoke in a weak tone, "I feel awful, Boyle."

The first thing that Boyle thought of was that she was having a fever but when he reached out to feel her forehead, it was not warm.

However, he grabbed a thermometer and shoved it underneath her armpits.

He took her temperature and it read 36.7 celsius. She did not have a fever and her temperature was normal.

If she had the flu, she should not have felt this awful.

Boyle had no other options left as he hugged her, lowered his head to give her a kiss as he spoke in a soft tone, "I'll take you to the hospital."

Cherie was mortally afraid of the hospitals as she refused, "No, don't send me to the hospital."

"We're not going to stay in the hospital. We're just going to get your cough checked out."

"They'll make me stay." Cherie replied. It seemed Cherie absolutely resented hospitals in her heart.

That was because doctors would treat her like a mental health patient. She could not trust them.

She was tearing up slightly and looked very sad to the point that Boyle could not bring himself to refuse her pleas.

Boyle's throat twitched as he patted her back with his huge hand and said, "I'll pour you a glass of water downstairs. Don't go anywhere."

Boyle gave Shania a phone call in secret while he was downstairs.

Since Shania was in a meeting, it took her a while to pick up Boyle's call. This agitated Boyle.

"Why is Cherie coughing now? Is this also related to her depression?"

Shania was completely speechless as she pinched her brows. She said, "President Lawson, how do you expect us doctors to give you a diagnosis when you don't even want to bring the patient here? If she's coughing then, it should only be a flu or a fever. It shouldn't have been caused by her depression."

"I've taken her temperature already and she doesn't have a fever. She can't possibly develop a flu so suddenly."

Shania was confused and annoyed. How could she possibly know why she was suddenly coughing?

Did Boyle actually assume that she was omnipotent to know the cause of any illnesses without the need of an actual diagnosis?

However, since Boyle was her employer, she held back her anger as she said, "Coughing and depression has very little to do with one another. It might be caused by some discomfort in her throat. You don't have to worry too much, President Lawson."

Shania was speaking in such a carefree tone and when Boyle thought about how awful Cherie felt, he could not help but vent his anger at her.

"I didn't hire you to come back just for nothing, Shania. If you're unable to do your job right, I can replace you anytime."

Shania was speechless.

Shania gritted her teeth and could no longer hold her anger back as she said, "Boyle Lawson, I reckon you stop bringing in your personal feelings to work. Even if you're my boss and you're giving me stocks that are worth over a couple million bucks, I am not here for you to vent your anger. I wanted you to bring Cherie here so she can be treated but you refused. Fine, that's still up to you but now you're calling me to ask for my diagnosis through the phone? Go on ahead and ask other doctors then. Ask them if they can fix your impossible problem."

Boyle took a deep breath as his gaze felt cold. However, it seemed some form of patience still remained in him as he closed his eyes and simply said, "I'm sorry."

Shania remained silent for a brief moment as her rage faded. She said, "Cherie's cough might not exactly be related to her mental disorder but, this doesn't mean it's not possible. I won't be able to give you an accurate answer if you don’t bring her here. I can't help you with anything else. Hence, even if you were to fire me, my answer will still be the same. The doctor has to meet the patient before any definitive diagnosis can be given."

Shania hung up the call after she was done saying that.

Boyle sat on the couch for a brief moment while he listened to the beeping sounds.

He seemed lost until Cherie suddenly charged out of the room and ran downstairs. Boyle immediately stopped her as he held her down with his huge arms.
