Brad couldn't make sense of it. How had such a sweet and wonderful young lady turned into this? Had she changed too drastically, or had he never truly understood her?
Just then, he thought about that video. The car had sped toward Nadine, and she'd barely managed to roll out of the way to avoid the first attack. But the driver didn't stop there. They immediately swerved the car back in her direction.
Nadine narrowly escaped again, but her arm suffered a nasty injury—a large patch of skin was scraped off her wrist, and blood oozed from the wound. Nevertheless, she pressed on, running for her life while holding onto Sean.
In the end, they took cover behind a large tree, and when the car came at them again, it crashed into the tree, crumpling its front. It was pure luck that they managed to survive.
But what if the driver had succeeded? Were their lives really that insignificant in Jean's eyes?
Fear consumed him at that moment. He dreaded the thought that Nadine could have been flung into the air and that he might never see her again.
And with that fear came an intense wave of guilt. He was her husband, yet he had no idea she'd gone through something so harrowing. It was unforgivable.
He also realized that he'd never heard his wife bring up such a serious issue. It was almost as if it had never occurred. He felt deeply ashamed of himself.
Brad could only imagine how heartbroken and disappointed Nadine must've been to keep everything from him.
