Lynn spoke glowingly of Jean, insisting that it was Jessie who was slandering her. But Brad's mindset had changed significantly. No matter how much Lynn defended Jean, he remained silent.

He stood rooted to the spot, his gaze cold as ice as he stared at the door of the emergency room. Had Nadine been in front of him, he genuinely wouldn't have known how to face her.

Just then, the doors to the emergency room swung open, and the nurses wheeled Jean out. "Where's the patient's family? Calling for Jean Sawyer's family members!"

Brad didn't budge from where he stood. It seemed like he had no intention of stepping forward. Lynn, on the other hand, pointed at him and told the doctor, "He is! He's Ms. Sawyer's boyfriend! Whatever it is, you can talk to him. He has the final say!"

Brad was about to refute when the doctor yelled at him, "Why are you just standing there? Hurry up and move the patient to her room! How could you be so negligent? She just attempted suicide by swallowing over 70 sleeping pills!

"Fortunately, we got to her in time. If we hadn't acted swiftly, she would have been dead in another half hour! How can you call yourselves family? The patient already has kidney problems, so you should be paying more attention to her! Why would you let her attempt such a thing?"

Brad stood beside the hospital bed in silence because he genuinely didn't know how to respond. He had been avoiding Jean for a while now. He didn't answer her calls, didn't respond to her texts, and barely checked in on her. He had no idea she'd go this far.
