While others might be unaware of the complicated history between Brad and Nadine, Alex and Sammy knew it all too well.
Back in the day, Nadine had taken care of Brad, who was lying in the ICU, despite being heavily pregnant. Even though her legs were swollen in the later stages of her pregnancy, they didn't stop her from caring for him day and night.
After Brad was discharged from the ICU, he started snapping at Nadine over the smallest things. Yet, she never once fought back. Back then, both of them had tried to talk sense into Brad.
"You'll never find another woman like Nadine. Why are you pushing her away when she's been nothing but good to you? You can't keep treating her like that!"
With a bit of persuasion from Sammy and heavy-handed tactics from Alex, Brad reluctantly agreed to marry Nadine. Thus, they obtained their marriage certificate and officially became husband and wife.
However, despite sharing the same bed and living under the same roof, his attitude toward her was always cold and indifferent.
Nadine had finally come to her senses. She was no longer that lovestruck girl who was willing to give up everything for him, yet Brad was still strutting around like he was some big shot. Sure, he might be someone with status, but what good did that do in the face of reality?
The universe wouldn't bend for anyone. Even if he was filthy rich, he'd still need to live a normal life like everyone else. No one could get by without food, water, and the bare necessities.
Alex shook his head when he noticed his friend still acting high and mighty. "Listen, Brad. I'm only telling you this because we're friends; love is just a bonus in life, not a necessity. Once a woman realizes that love isn't the be-all and end-all, she becomes a warrior. She won't revolve around you or the house and kids anymore.
