After successfully adding Nadine on Facebook, Brad put his phone away, feeling utterly pleased with himself. When he had been drinking with Alex, his friend had told him not to rush into anything and not to push Nadine into forgetting about the divorce right away.

Alex wanted Brad to treat her like a person he had just befriended. He had to take it slow, get closer to her, work his way into her heart, and show her how much he truly cared about her. He had to use his sincerity to win her over. No tricks allowed.

Alex emphasized that feelings couldn't be faked. If he genuinely liked her, he shouldn't be arrogant. He needed to let go of his pride and shower her with the love she deserved. Above all, he needed to be shameless about his ways.

For instance, he wanted her to add him on Facebook, but she didn't want to, so he had to keep pestering her. He also had to make himself look as pitiful as possible. Regardless, he couldn't give her attitude or force her into adding him. Women responded better to gentleness than force, after all.

Even though he had achieved his goal of adding Nadine as a friend on Facebook that day, he was still greedy for more. He wanted to spend a bit more time with her—even if they didn't talk. Even sitting with her in silence would be enough for him.
