The car came to a stop at Rose Garden, and Nadine stepped out. Brad followed suit.
The bitter winds of winter howled, sending chills down her spine. Nadine readjusted her scarf, bundled Sean up, and ignored the man behind her as she headed toward the entrance of the building.
"Nadine!" All of a sudden, Brad called out to her.
Nadine hesitated for a moment but ultimately turned to look at him. The cold wind lifted the hem of his trench coat, revealing his long, straight legs. He stood tall and elegant, his demeanor noble yet aloof. He was truly an irreplaceable entity in Janctera City.
It was often said that Brad had inherited his grandfather's charisma, yet he surpassed it in many ways. Looking at the flawless specimen standing under the dim light, she couldn't help but feel he was a sight to behold. Brad was like a jewel among stones, and an emerald among the pines.
It was a fitting description for the man before her. Yet, no matter how handsome he was, he no longer had anything to do with her. Nadine stopped in her tracks and eyed Brad skeptically. "Do you need something?"
Brad had driven them home and was gazing at her with eyes full of affection that left her utterly perplexed. Sean, too, came to a halt and shifted his gaze toward his father under the streetlight, his big eyes brimming with curiosity.
Right then, Avery returned with her suitcase. When she spotted Nadine and Sean at the entrance, she immediately broke into a wide grin and called out, "Babe, I'm back!" Then, she rushed over and threw herself at Nadine. "Did you miss me, babe?"
Once she let go of Nadine, she turned to hug Sean. "Did you miss me, Sean? I've missed you so much! Look, I brought you a toy!" While hugging the little one, she planted a few kisses on his chubby cheeks.
