Nadine's treatment of Brad wasn't exactly warm, but it wasn't cold either. She would remain silent if he asked her about her personal life, but she answered truthfully when he asked about his family or Sean.

Ever since Brad promised to consider the divorce, her attitude toward him had softened considerably. Even though she was still as indifferent as ever, she cared about him like he was her friend. Brad, of course, welcomed this change with open arms.

Nadine was dressed in her nurse's uniform, and her hair was pulled back in a low bun at the back of her head, giving her a gentle and graceful appearance.

As soon as he noticed her, Brad's eyes lit up, and he greeted her warmly, "Nad, you're here!" It was obvious from the look on his face just how happy he was. If he wasn't injured, he'd probably jump out of bed and spin her around in his arms.

Nadine lifted her gaze to him and walked over to check his wound. "Make sure to keep your wound dry, avoid spicy foods, and take good care of yourself. You should be able to go home in a few days."

Brad was young, and his body's metabolism worked quickly. So, the drug was almost completely gone from his system.

He just needed to be monitored for another two days before he could be discharged. The injury on his right arm was more severe—it would take at least a month before the cast could come off.

Looking at his injured arm, she couldn't pretend she felt nothing. Brad had gotten hurt while saving her. His nerve had been damaged, and no one could say for sure how well he would recover. There was even a chance he might never be able to hold a pen properly again.

Of course, she cared. After all, they had been married for six years, and she had loved him deeply during that time. Nadine would be lying to herself if she said her heart didn't ache for him. However, they were in the middle of a divorce. She couldn't bring herself to show him how much she cared.
