Meanwhile, Gigi was in Evelyn's room. Following her mother's instructions to retrieve and deliver a document to Brad, Gigi opened the drawer. It didn't take long to find the folder her mother had mentioned.
Out of curiosity, she opened it. After reading the words on the document, her expression changed dramatically. "How is this even possible?"
Fearing she had misread it, she flipped through a few more pages. Then, she collapsed into the chair, stunned.
Gigi looked like her soul had been sucked out of her body. She only came back to her senses when her phone rang. "I'm at home, Dad. What's wrong?" she asked.
Daniel was currently focused on stabilizing Hamilton Group's stock prices. He was too busy to think about matters at home. Still, Gigi was Evelyn's daughter, and if Evelyn wanted to use Gigi to help her escape, she would definitely succeed.
Therefore, when he learned that Gigi had returned to Clover Villa, he immediately called her. "Gigi, if you still consider yourself part of the Hamilton family, you'd better behave and stay out of my business with your mom! If you even think about helping them escape, don't blame me for cutting ties with you!"
This was the first time her father had lost his temper with her. Gigi realized she needed to keep her wits about her. So, she repeatedly assured Daniel, "Don't worry, Dad. I'm a Hamilton, and I know what I need to do.
"But Mom hasn't done anything fundamentally wrong. She just helped Jean get into our house. Why are you keeping her locked up? And why aren't you letting anyone bring them food?"
As her child, how could Gigi stand idly by while her mother was suffering? Gigi thought her father was being unreasonable this time. He shouldn't be keeping her mother under house arrest.
Daniel scoffed. "What do you know? Do you have any idea what your mother has done behind my back? If you don't know the full story, just keep your mouth shut! And don't just sit around at home. Go to the hospital to look after your older brother! Give your sister-in-law a break while you're at it.
