Janctera City had two prominent families: the Hamiltons and the Castillos. The Hamilton family, led by Adam and Daniel, were known for their unity. All the extended family members that stayed close to the main branch thrived, living comfortably and never short on money.
The Castillos, on the other hand, operated on its own. The head of the family, Lucas Castillo, was in his 50s. He had a background in the underworld, committed murder, and thus served time in prison.
The reasons behind the murder remained a mystery. All anyone knew was that he had served seven years in prison. Upon release, he stumbled into a windfall that he used to start a business, which grew rapidly, eventually making him the second richest figure in Janctera City.
For reasons unknown, Lucas had always had it out for the Hamilton family, often attempting to trip them up both openly and behind the scenes. However, the Hamiltons conducted their business with integrity, leaving no room for the Castillo family to find any faults. In the past 15 years, the Castillos had taken plenty of shots at the Hamiltons, but none as blatant as this.
There was a dark glass wall inside the police station's interrogation room. Those inside couldn't see a thing beyond it, but those on the other side could see everything happening inside.
As four towering men closed in on Nadine, preparing to strip her, a woman standing just on the other side of the wall let out a delighted laugh. "This bitch has guts, Lucas. I love it when they fight back."
Lucas lounged on the leather couch with a cigar between his fingers. He raised his head and stroked the woman's face. "I'll make anyone who dares pick on our son regret it, Quinn. Since she's from the Hamilton family, she had it coming. No one gets to mistreat our son. Not on my watch."
The woman, Quinn Langston, leaned on Lucas, settling on his lap and wrapping her arms around his neck. She then planted a kiss on his lips and said, "My dear husband, I knew you wouldn't let anyone harm our son or me.
