Chapter 141
Chapter 141
If netizens could bypass the firewall to access foreign sites, Sophia certainly knew how to spread domestic news overseas.
When foreign netizens saw Zachary’s name suddenly shoot to the top of the trending list, they all clicked in out of curiosity.
To their shock, not only had Zachary not been blacklisted by the industry, but he’d been hired with a sky–high salary at an exclusive private hospital for the wealthy. This instantly sent them into an uproar.
One said: [How could this guy get away with
Ping Judy’s life? Why hasn’t he been arrested? Why can he flee back to Clusia?]
Someone said: [Judy’s family put out a bounty ages ago, but since he’s in Clusia, no one dares take the job.)
Another said: [That’s because the bounty’s too low. They need to raise it, double it! After what Judy’s been through, that bastard doesn’t deserve to live. He must die!]
One said: [After all the love and trust Judy gave him, he just exploited her feelings. That bastard deserves to die. Nothing less will satisfy public outrage.j
Judy was born into a prominent family in Yuland, pampered like a princess from birth. With her delicate, doll–like features, the very picture of elegance she began accompanying her elders to high–society events from the age of seven.
A single photo of Judy published by foreign media shot her to instant fame. From then on, she became the public face of her family, making frequent media appearances and steadily growing her fan base.
At fifteen, Judy was kidnapped. After being rescued, the ordeal left her with serious mental health issues. She consulted numerous therapists, but nothing helped until she met Zachary. Only then did Judy’s condition begin to improve.
Judy’s family had no idea what Zachary had been doing during Judy’s treatment. Exploiting their doctor–patient relationship, Zachary carried on a secret affair with Judy for two years.
If Judy hadn’t left a suicide note before she died, they might never have known about the despicable things Zachary had done.
Someone grabbed screenshots of foreign netizens‘ comments and posted them on Clusian social media, sparking widespread mockery from local users.
Sophia received a message from JuicyNewsHere.
JuicyNewsHere said: [Zachary is digging into us,
but my boss says it’s
no big deal. Don’t sweat it.]
Sophia asked: [Isn’t the Dawson family going to take action?]
JuicyNewsHere replied: [You know everything, so how could you not hear the Dawson family pissed off the Hartwick family? The Dawson family loses their backers.]
Sophia’s pupils contracted sharply. She thought, ‘The Dawson family offended the Hartwick family? Impossible. If the Guardian is truly from the Hartwick family, then why did he only show up after I died?‘
In her subsequent lives, Sophia was driven solely by revenge, using every means to eliminate Yvette and the others. Yet each time, her death was abrupt and careless, and only then would the Guardian emerge.
Sophia knew very little about the Hartwick family. The only thing she was certain of was that, despite being one of the most elite families, every member lived in seclusion and kept such an unusually low profile that ordinary people wouldn’t even know they existed.
Now that the Dawson family had offended the Hartwick family, Sophia’s gut told her this might have something to do with the Guardian. She couldn’t tell whether the Guardian was a friend or foe.
She could feel things slipping from her grasp, irritation rising as her violent temper flared
up again.
Just then, a car pulled into the Chandler residence, its horn giving a few beeps. Moments later, Yvette’s cheerful voice could be heard.
Chapter 141
Sophia frowned, her cold eyes brimming with irritation. Yvette’s shrill, affected voice grated on her nerves, sparking an almost violete a bet
“Sophia?” Wette called out tentatively as she climbed the stairs and knocked on the door.
Sophia was just itching for a fight when Yvette conveniently showed up. She got up to open the door.
The door suddenly swung open, revealing Sophia’s cold, menacing face. Yvette instinctively took two steps back, her face full of werness. “Dr Dayz here. You should come downstairs,” she stammered, then bolted away.
A twinge of disappointment hit Sophia. She thought, ‘Why’s she running so fast? It’s not like I’m some monster. Zachary showing up at a time like this? No way he’d figure out it was me. And even if he did, so what?‘
Two minutes later, Sophia sauntered downstairs, hands in her pockets. Spotting Zachary, she tilted her chin with a sardonic smirk and drawled, Well, well, if it isn’t the viral Dr. Dawson. What do you want?”
She sprawled out on the sofa with careless ease, and the servants promptly served her drink, pastries, and cake.
“Sophia,” Yvette said with poorly concealed irritation, “you shouldn’t just believe everything you read online. Those rumors are complete nonsense”
Sophia rolled her eyes and said, “Yeah, I believe it. So what? Mind your own damn business. Already forgotten how much it hurt last time?”
Yvette was left speechless, unable to come up with a retort.
Zachary placed a luxury gift bag in front of Sophia and said, “Sophia, regarding last time…”
Sophia scoffed, “Mind your words.”
Zachary gazed at her intently and said, “Ms. Sophia Chandler, my negligence last time led to a misunderstanding. I brought you this as an apology.”
Sophia eyed the gift bag and unceremoniously dumped its contents out.
Yvette’s lips parted. She wanted to tell Sophia to slow down, but didn’t dare speak.
The gift was a butterfly hairpin studded with tiny diamonds. Sophia beamed with faux delight and said, “How magnanimous of me to forgive you. But then again, that’s just the kind of saintly, easygoing person I am.”
Yvette gritted her teeth in silent fury. She thought, ‘How can she be so brazenly shameless?‘
Zachary’s eyes flickered briefly before settling back into his gentle smile. “Whatever you say, Ms. Sophia Chandler,” he replied smoothly.
Sophia arched an eyebrow and said, “Don’t expect it again. You must be busy. I won’t keep you for dinner.”
Her patronizingly mature demeanor made Zachary’s eye twitch slightly. Trying to keep his composure, he asked, “Ms. Sophia Chandler, what’s your take on all those online rumors?”
Sophia batted her eyelashes and said, “With my two perfectly good eyes.”
