Maelis was confused. “That’s not really a compliment, is it?”

The crowd fell even quieter. Everyone knew Sophia was doing it on purpose. Ophelia was so angry she couldn’t talk, her eyes fixed on Sophia like she was ready to attack.

With so many guests there, Ophelia could only give one last harsh glare at Sophia before walking away–she clearly planned to settle this later.

Sophia looked right at her and gave a teasing smile, completely calm. She had already taken the hush money.

Sophia walked around with her juice, looking for a place to sit. Now that the fight was over, the guests started talking in small groups, whispering “miscarriage” and “arranged marriage“.

Dorian leaned in and quietly said, “Sophia, I don’t think Ophelia will just let this go.”

Sophia looked at Nadia, who said, “Don’t worry about me–I’m not scared of her anymore.”

Nadia thought, “Since I got into Jelasburg University, Grandpa has been paying more attention to me. I’m still useful to the Moore family, so he won’t make things hard for me over this. If it gets bad, I’ll just stay at school.”

Maelis leaned closer, her curiosity all over her face. “Do you think Rose will be able to keep the baby?”

Dorian was just as curious. Nadia stayed quiet but looked at Sophia too. Sophia blinked and smiled, “Wait, you guys actually think I’d know?”

Maelis, Dorian, and Nadia all nodded together. Sophia paused, then said with a smirk, “Well, this time she didn’t lose the baby.”

Maelis didn’t catch the meaning and thought Rose was safe from losing the baby. Just as she started to relax, Dorian quickly cut in, “She didn’t lose the baby this time–does that mean she will next time?”

Maelis suddenly turned to look at Dorian, and Nadia did too. Sophia clicked her tongue in admiration. ‘Dorian is smart–if only he were healthier, he’d be really promising. What a shame,‘ she thought.

“Sophia,” Jonathan called out as he came closer from far away. He had just finished talking with the Moore family and finally had a moment to check his phone–only to see Sophia’s message.

-Dorian, quick to see what was happening, pulled Maelis and Nadia away just as Jonathan got closer. Jonathan frowned at his phone and asked, “What’s

this nonsense you sent me?”

Sophia put on an innocent look. “Well, just congratulations.”

Sophia grinned mischievously and said, “Congratulations, you’re going to be a grandpa!”

Jonathan was totally confused. “What are you talking about?” Then suddenly, he froze as if he had a new thought. “Is Sean-”

Sophia snapped her fingers and grinned. “Bingo! It’s him, for sure. The Chandler family is going to have a wedding soon.”

Jonathan looked doubtful. “Sean’s so busy with work. When would he even have time to get a girl? When did this happen?”

Sophia gave a mysterious smile and said, “Just wait and see.”

Heather was happy when Sophia called, but her smile disappeared fast. “What did you just say?” she asked sharply

“Jonathan is so eager to work with the Moore family that he’s pushing Sean to marry Rose–even though she’s already pregnant with another man’s baby! If this happens, aren’t you just becoming a grandma?”

Heather spoke through clenched teeth, upset and angry at Jonathan. “First, he kept fighting with me over that illegitimate son, and now, just for money, he’s making his own son a cuckold. Unbelievable!”

Jonathan’s attitude had made Heather almost crazy these days.

At the party, Jonathan and Maxwell were chatting happily about a business deal. But then, with just one sentence, Maxwell stunned Jonathan.
