Reborn to Burn Them All novel Chapter 17

Chapter 17

C’s

Yvette was the ultimate heartthrob in this story, loved by everyone. Ever since she returned to the Chandler family, she became the apple of everyone’s eye. Then she met powerful characters from all walks of life and stole everyone’s heart.

Sophia couldn’t hurt Yvette directly, but she could make the Chandler family hurt each other. She had also figured out Yvette’s personality. Since Yvette wanted to be the only beloved daughter in their family, Sophia was determined to make sure that wouldn’t happen.

The Sampson family had treated Yvette like their own daughter for over ten years, yet Yvette still held grudges against them. Not to mention Jonathan and Heather, who had been apart from her for eighteen years.

The Chandler family truly cared for Yvette and felt guilty, but Yvette didn’t necessarily love them back.

Sophia felt a surge of excitement as she thought about the drama ahead. It was like her blood was boiling. That excitement stayed with her through

the night.

That night, because of her insomnia, Sophia couldn’t fall asleep until after midnight, and even then, her sleep was light. Any small sound would wake her up, and then she couldn’t fall back asleep.

Therefore, even though Howard tried to be quiet, Sophia still heard the rustling noises.

Her door was locked from the inside, and no one outside could open it. Soon, Sophia saw something slither under the door in the dim light of the night.

“This is the price you pay for hitting me, you arrogant idiot,” Howard said: He slipped some snakes under the door of Sophia’s room, then quietly returned to his own room.

As he walked away, he muttered to himself, excited. The thought of Sophia crying in fear because of the snakes made him smile smugly, covering his mouth.

Curious about when Sophia would realize what had happened, Howard told himself not to sleep too deeply. He still wanted to watch Sophia’s reaction. With that thought, he drifted off to sleep.

Maybe he had thought too much before sleeping, but in a half–awake, half–asleep state, Howard felt something crawling on him. The cold, sticky feeling made him uncomfortable.

“Go away. Leave me alone,” he grumbled.

Just then, Howard touched something. It felt wrong, and his whole body shuddered. When he opened his eyes, he immediately screamed, his eyes wide in terror.

In the dark, Howard saw Sophia standing at the head of his bed, her hair messy, her face covered in blood, and her expression ice–cold. She was holding a gleaming fruit knife.

“Sophia, what do you want?” Howard shouted.

Sophia didn’t respond. She just stared at him, her gaze cold and creepy.

“What are you?” Howard stuttered, his mind going blank for a moment. He trembled, his face pale.

Sophia grinned, showing her white teeth. She spoke in a chilling voice, “What do you think?”

Howard couldn’t look at her. He rubbed his face, then realized what he was holding in his hands.

At that moment, he screamed in terror again. What he was holding wasn’t just anything—it was the snakes he had put in Sophia’s room.

The next second, Howard’s vision went black, and he passed out from the

fright.

“Howard, what’s wrong?” Hearing Howard’s screams in the middle of the night, everyone from the Chandler family rushed into his room.

As soon as they turned on the lights, their faces changed in shock.

Sophia was standing there, covered in blood. Howard, who had passed out, was also covered in blood, as was the bed and blanket. And with Sophia holding the fruit knife, still dripping with blood, the room looked like a crime scene.

Heather screamed and fainted in Jonathan’s arms.

“Sophia, what the hell are you doing?” Jonathan was stunned by the scene. Even with all his experience, he couldn’t help but feel a chill down his spine and fear crawling up his back.

“Sophia, even if you have a problem with Howard, you can’t do this to him,” Yvette said. “It’s all my fault. If I hadn’t come back, this wouldn’t have happened.”

Even at a moment like this, Yvette didn’t forget to take a dig at Sophia. Sure enough, when Jonathan heard her words, his face darkened with displeasure.

Sean was holding Yvette, who was trembling and as pale as a ghost from the fear. He furrowed his brow, his eyes full of impatience and disgust.

Sophia flashed a mocking smile. “You’re right, it’s all your fault,” she said to Yvette. “You’re so kind, so for the sake of our family’s happiness, you should leave first thing in the morning.”

Yvette froze, clearly not expecting Sophia to say that.

“Sophia!” Sean stepped in front of the frail Yvette. “Are you done yet?”
