Reborn to Burn Them All novel Chapter 3

Chapter 3

The place buzzed with excited whispers as guests eagerly discussed the drama.

Teresa bristled under the crowd’s judging stares. She whirled on Heather. “Mrs. Chandler, some good host you are–inviting me just to have your daughter slander my son? I should sue your family for defamation.”

Heather tried to speak, flustered by the sudden turn of events. “Mrs. Lynn, I—”

Sophia interrupted without looking up from her phone, knowing Heather would only make matters worse. “Defamation?” she asked with mock concern. “Oh, wait, I did make one mistake earlier.”

Før a moment, Teresa looked relieved, lifting her chin smugly.

Then Sophia’s smile turned sharp. “Your son didn’t just cheat on his exams. Right now, he’s holding a girl against her will and attempting to

assault her.”

She held up her phone with a bright smile. “Don’t worry, I already called the police. Mrs. Lynn, you might not know how to raise your child properly, but the legal system certainly does. We can all trust in that, can’t

we?”

Teresa paled just like Vicky had. “You Chandlers are unbelievable. This isn’t over,” she hissed. With that, she spun around and rushed off, nearly tripping in her heels as she scrambled to call someone.

With both Vicky and Teresa gone, only Sally remained. She took a step backward, her eyes wide with fear. “What do you want from me? Don’t come any closer!”

Sally had seen how Sophia had dealt with Vicky and Teresa. Now,

trembling with fear, she tried to escape, but Sophia had her backed into a

corner.

“Stay back, you crazy bitch!” Sally screamed.

Sophia just smiled, completely unfazed. “Mrs. Foley, you call me cold and heartless. But I’m still human.” Her voice turned icy. “Your daughter? She’s

a monster.

“She became a bully before she even grew up–targeting smart kids from poor families just because she was jealous.

“She tore up a girl’s homework, locked her in the restroom, threw garbage on her, and took pictures to humiliate her. And when that wasn’t enough? She paid thugs to harass the girl… until she couldn’t take it anymore and jumped.”

“Shut up!” Sally shouted, her voice trembling as she tried to silence Sophia.

But Sophia refused to back down. “What an amazing mother you are, Mrs. Foley, shelling out $60,000 to cover your daughter’s crimes. That’s the price of a human life to you?” She let out a mocking laugh. “I guess money really can buy anything.”

The crowd fell completely silent. Everyone stared in shock.

Rich families had skeletons in their closets–typically just affairs and messy relationships. But murder went far beyond ordinary scandal. No amount of money could excuse taking a life.

Sally turned deathly pale, looking ready to collapse.

“Sophia, please,” Yvette pleaded, her voice soft but with a hint of feigned resignation. “If you’re mad, take it out on me. I’ll deal with whatever comes. But you’re making claims without proof. Do you realize what this could do to our family?”

A moment ago, Sally had been completely thrown off, but at Yvette’s words, she suddenly lifted her head. “Sophia, you’re saying my daughter bullied someone and I paid to cover up a murder?” she challenged. “Show me the proof, or you’ll regret it.”

Sophia glanced at Yvette and shrugged. “Proof? I don’t have any.”

Sally let out a relieved sigh, but her face turned red with anger. “No proof, Sophia? Then you’d better be ready to face the consequences for falsely accusing me.”

Sophia nodded thoughtfully. “Yeah, you’re right. I don’t have proof, but I’m calling the police. I trust the system. They’ll get to the truth and make sure justice is done.”

Sally’s eyes widened in panic. She looked around at the other Chandlers and snapped, “Fine. Do whatever you want. The Chandler family, huh? We’ll see what happens next.”
