Reborn to Burn Them All novel Chapter 55

Chapter 55

Sophia glanced at Wade, then at the phone he was using to livestream. What’s up?she asked.

For a moment, both Wade and his livestream viewers fell silent.

The quiet only lasted a few seconds before the chat exploded with comments.

[OMG, is that really Sophia? I can’t believe I’m seeing her here. This is the crossover

of the century.]

[Wait, the fearless girl with the bat is Sophia? Sophia, can I learn from you?]

[That bat swing was incredible. Not only are you a genius, but you’re also a total badass.]

[Sophia, I’m about to start my senior year. Everyone, step aside. Let me bow to her for good luck. Sophia, please bless me so that I can ace my SAL]

[Sophia, bless us. Sophia, protect us.]

[Sophia, bless us. Sophia, protect us.]

Sophia stayed silent as she read the flood of comments.

Sophia, are you okay?Yvonne quickly leaned in, her concern evident. Does your hand hurt? Let me hold the bat for you.

The livestream viewers, seeing Yvonne acting like a total fangirl, went wild with excitement.

Sophia handed the baseball bat to Yvonne and turned to the camera. I’m not some genius. I’m just like everyone else. Don’t put me on a pedestal. Hard work matters, but only if you’re heading in the right direction. Trust yourself, and you’ll get there.

Her words prompted another wave of questions in the chat.

A

[Does hard work really pay off? Sophia, you’re lying. I only sleep four hours a day and spend the rest of my time studying. Why am I still not improving despite all my efforts?]

Sophia, unfazed, replied calmly, You’re working hard, but you’re aiming at the wrong target. Hard work only works if you’re on the right track.

The livestream chat fell into stunned silence.

Even Wade stood there, mouth agape, as if Sophia had just dropped a bombshell.

The livestream’s viewership shot from hundreds to thousands, and kept soaring. Wade was so ecstatic that he felt like bowing to Sophia.

Sophia lowered her gaze, thought for a moment, and continued, Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. No matter how hard you push yourself in an area you’re not good at, you won’t get the results you’re hoping for.”

The viewers in the livestream were pretty chill overall.

The person who had just asked the question even sent two crying emojis.

[Sophia’s right. I’ve been struggling in a field I’m just not good at. I’m passionate about humanities, especially history, but my parents pushed me into science. They said it’s easier to choose a major and get a job in science, while humanities major has no future.]

[Wait, could it be that I bombed my science exams because I’m actually better suited for humanities?]

[Same here. My senior year was brutal. I barely slept, constantly stressed, and my grades were still awful. Could it be that I was in the wrong field all along?]

[Guys, I’m breaking down.]

Chapter 55

As the number of viewers kept climbing, Wade’s heart skipped a beat. He quickly jumped in, Okay, everyone, don’t overbum «. That e what Sophia meant, right? He was clearly trying to remind her.

Sophia nodded. You’re definitely reading too much into it. Just because science isn’t your thing doesn’t mean humaries vil andromatically but bet It’s just that..

Terrified that Sophia might say something even more shocking, Wade cut her off in a panic, Sophia probably has other stuff to deal with, so let seat keep her any longer. Bye, everyone.

Wade bolted, still trying to smooth things over as he ran. Seriously, don’t overthink it, guys. That was just one example. Sophia’s words aren’t necessarily absolute. She’s just a collegebound kid who only recently became an adult.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask the teachers with experience. Let’s move on.

As Wade walked away, Sophia didn’t give it much thought, but she noticed Yvonne seemed unusually quiet.

I scared them off,Sophia said casually,

Yvonne chuckled, Sophia, you’re amazing.

Noticing Yvonne’s forced smile, Sophia figured she might be worried about Mira Stanton, who lived in the building,

Should we go check on her?Sophia asked.

Yvonne smacked her forehead, her tone filled with regret. I almost forgot about Mira.

With that, she took off running.

Sophia glanced around at the filthy, trashstrewn area buzzing with flies, sighed, and followed her.

Mira, are you alright? Should I take you to the hospital?Yvonne asked, looking at the elderly woman sitting on a low stool, one hand on her waist, her face pale and sickly.

Mira shook her head and grabbed Yvonne’s hand anxiously. I’m fine, but go check on Larry. Those people hit him on the head earlier. Please, go see if he’s okay.

Yvonne’s heart sank, and she hurried into the room, calling out, Larry.”

Inside, a teenage boy sat wearing a faded Tshirt and jeans. Hearing his name, he turned his head, his sharp, wolflike gaze locking onto her.

Yvonne gasped, her face turning pale as she stumbled back in fear. Luckily, Sophia caught her. Sophía, he

Sophia also took in the sight of the boy named Larry. His features were striking, fair skin, a high nose, and soft teabrown curls. A sapphire earring glinted on his left ear, making him look like a character straight out of a manga.

But his eyes were too sharp, carrying a fierce and unrelenting intensity.

Before Sophia could say anything, Larry’s eyes rolled back, and he collapsed.

Larry.Yvonne rushed over to support him, her hands coming away sticky. He’s bleeding.

Sophia glanced at him and said firmly, We need to get him to the hospital now.

Sophia stepped out of the building and noticed many elderly people and children around, just like Mira.

Most of them cautiously peeked out from their homes, only to quickly retreat when they saw someone outside.
