Everyone present was speechless. Jonathan glared at her, infuriated by her self–righteous look and on the verge of exploding “What noisenta are you spouting? When did I ever say I’d divorce Heather ?”
Heather was momentarily stunned before realization dawned on her. Unexpectedly touched, she said, “Sophia, I always knew you ware VCK S sweetheart.”
Jonathan was shocked and thought, ‘Has the hospital stay addled her brain? Or has she forgotten who chased her with a cleaver?
Yvette kept her head down, quietly observing Sophia’s every inove. “Well, doesn’t a good girl like me deserve a little reward?”
Hearing this, Sophia’s eyes brightened. She walked over with a big smile and said,

seconds before that all–too–familiar pressure, like being chased for debt,
Heather frowned and rubbed her temples, wincing in pain. “Well, this headache is unbearable. I need to rest. Everyone out, please. We’ll talk about this when I’m out of the hospital.”
Sophia glanced at her with feigned concern and asked, “Need me to call a doctor?”
Heather shook her head. “No need. The doctor said I just need more rest.”
Sophia nodded and looked at Jonathan and Yvette. “Out, both of you.”
Jonathan frowned. “You’re not leaving?”
Sophia straightened her back, lifted her chin proudly, and declared, “Unlike you two, I’m Heather’s good girl.”
Finally, Jonathan left the ward, rubbing his temples in exasperation. Before leaving, Yvette cast a glance at Sophia, her eyes filled with unreadable emotions.
Once everyone had left, Sophia grinned at Heather, who was still faking a headache, and gave her a playful smack on the back. “Alright, drop the act. It’s just us now,” Sophia said.
Heather winced slightly from the smack, but she didn’t hold it against Sophia. She sat up, looking even more haggard.
“Heather, hiding like this isn’t going to solve anything. You really should consider what I suggested last time,” Sophia said with an earnest look, professing her loyalty. “After all, I’m on your side.”
Seeing Sophia’s seemingly unwavering support, Heather finally couldn’t hold back anymore and burst into tears like a dam breaking, venting all her pent–up emotions.
“Go ahead. Let all your grievances, discontent, and hatred for Jonathan out. Once you step out of this ward, you’ll still be the mistress of the Chandler family.” Unlike her seemingly comforting words, Sophia’s face was blank, her eyes glinting with undisguised mockery.
With tear–reddened eyes, Heather choked out bitterly, “I won’t allow that bastard to set foot in the Chandler family.”
Sophia rolled her eyes. “What’s the point of not wanting it? As long as Chandler Group’s in his hands, Jonathan calls the shots. Our opinions don’t matter. Unless you can take control of the Chandler family/Are you really gonna turn on him?”
Heather cried again. Sophia curled her lip, clearly annoyed. “Fine, vent in front of me if you want, but don’t go arguing with Jonathan. The more you. fight, the guiltier he’ll feel toward that illegitimate kid. That won’t help any of us.”
Heather, unsure what to make of this sudden change, asked hesitantly, “Why are you suddenly…?”
Sophia lifted her chin proudly and said with a smirk, “I’ve always been this considerate and understanding. After all, I’m the legitimate daughter of this family. Of course I’m on your side. My loyalty has never wavered.”

Sophia, not wanting to listen to Heather try any longer, said, “Just think it over, okay? I’m heading out.”
Before Heather could reply, Sophia grabbed an apple from the fruit basket, gave it a quick wipe on her shirt, took a bite, and walked out Just as expected, Jonathan was waiting outside, and so was Dorian. “Sophia, you guys done talking?”
Dorian was stunned to find Sophia gone after taking a call. Luckily, he spotted Jonathan emerging from the hospital room,

Sophia retorted impatiently, “How

Sophia continued, “If you suddenly collapse from another episode, no amount of explaining will get me out of trouble.”
Dorian patted his chest. “See? I’m fine. Shows I’m perfectly healthy.” But seeing the clear disbelief in Sophia’s eyes, he instantly deflated. “Okay, I’ll try to control myself more from now on.”
Sophia didn’t say a word. ‘What wishful thinking–there’s no next time for me,‘ she thought. ‘I’m not about to invite trouble into my life.
“Sophia,” Jonathan finally seized the opportunity to speak. “Come with me for a moment. We need to talk.”
Sophia stood her ground. “Nothing to discuss. I’ve already promised Heather. I’m on her side.”
Jonathan choked up, his face turned livid. “Could you just drop it already? I’m not divorcing Heather.”
Sophia shrugged. “How should I know what you’re thinking? All I know is, I’m firmly on Heather’s side unless you make it worth my while…”
“Unless what?” Jonathan pressed. Dorian leaned in, his curiosity piqued.
Sophia raised an eyebrow. “You know the drill.”
Jonathan was speechless, and thought, ‘Here we go again. She wants more money. Always asking at the drop of a hat. I don’t even know why I keep giving it to her.‘
Jonathan took a deep breath. “The paternity test results are out. He really is-” He suddenly realized someone was staring at him intently. Turning his head, he found himself face–to–face with Dorian, whose eyes sparkled with curiosity and excitement.
“Well, you know the deal. Try to talk some sense into your mother when you can. I’ve raised your credit limit.” With that, Jonathan turned and walked
